Starbucks CEO to Shareholder: If You Support Biblical Marriage, Sell Your Shares

Christian News: At the annual Starbucks shareholder’s meeting in late March in Seattle, company officials told those who support Biblical marriage that they “can sell [their] shares in Starbucks and buy shares in another company.”

According to reports, during the meeting, the founder of Corporate Morality Action Center expressed concerns over the company’s support of homosexual marriage. Tom Stobhar from the organization cited that the company’s stance affected shareholder earnings after Starbucks backed efforts to legalize same-sex homosexual “marriage” in Washington state last year. The company’s announcement had resulted in boycotts against the coffee king.

“In the first full quarter after this boycott was announced, our sales and earnings — shall we say politely — were a bit disappointing,” shareholder Tom Strobhar stated.

“Not every decision is an economic decision. Despite the fact that you recite statistics that are narrow in time, we did provide a 38% shareholder return over the last year,” responded Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. ”I don’t know how many things you invest in, but I would suspect not many things, companies, products, investments have returned 38% over the last 12 months.”

“Having said that, it is not an economic decision to me. The lens in which we are making that decision is through the lens of our people,” he continued. “We employ over 200,000 people in this company, and we want to embrace diversity — of all kinds.”

The response drew both applause and cheers.

Schultz then concluded by saying, “If you feel, respectfully, that you can get a higher return than the 38% you got last year, it’s a free country. You can sell your shares in Starbucks and buy shares in another company. Thank you very much.”

While some shareholders appear to be doing just that, a number of Starbucks customers have also refused to frequent the franchise as long as it remains opposed to Biblical marriage. One website, DumpStarbucks.com, launched a nationwide campaign to urge coffee lovers to go elsewhere for a cup of joe.

“We are urging customers across the globe to ‘Dump Starbucks’ because it has taken a corporate-wide position that the definition of marriage between one man and one woman should be eliminated and that same-sex homosexual marriage should become equally ‘normal,’” the effort’s website outlines. “As such, Starbucks has deeply offended at least half its US customers, and the vast majority of its international customers.”

Starbucks is using its resources to invalidate traditional marriage in the US and redefine the institution of marriage despite the strongly held views of so many of its customers, including me,” the petition outlines. “Therefore, I will no longer purchase anything from Starbucks until you change your corporate values to be more reflective of my own.”

“Starbucks is proud to join other leading Northwest employers in support of Washington State legislation recognizing marriage equality redefining the definition of marriage for same-sex homosexual couples,” Starbucks outlined in a written statement last year when it announced its support for Washington’s push to legalize homosexual “marriage.” “We are deeply dedicated to embracing diversity and treating one another with respect and dignity, and remain committed to providing an inclusive, supportive and safe work environment for all of our partners.”

Starbucks was also among the over 300 U.S. corporations that signed onto a recent Supreme Court brief in an effort to overturn the nation’s Defense of Marriage Act.

I don’t drink coffee so dumping Starbucks isn’t an issue for me. I started to despise Starbucks when the owner, Howard Schultz, sold our Seattle Sonics to Oklahoma City in 2006. But I’ll leave it up to you to decide if you want to avoid Starbucks. Take a stand with your wallet!

Enough of Dumb Blonde, Brunette, Redhead, Black , Curly, straight, long, short Jokes!

A young ventriloquist is touring Sweden and, one night, he’s doing a show in a small fishing town. With his dummy on his knee, he starts going through his usual dumb blonde jokes.
Suddenly, a blonde woman in the fourth row stands on her chair and starts shouting, “I’ve heard enough of your stupid blonde jokes. What makes you think you can stereotype
Swedish blond women that way? What does the color of a woman’s hair have to do with her worth as a human being?

It’s men like you who keep women like me from being respected at work and in the community, and from reaching our full potential as people. Its people like you that make others think that all Blondes are dumb! You and your kind continue to perpetuate discrimination against not only blondes, but women in general…pathetically all in the name of humor!”

The embarrassed ventriloquist begins to apologize, and the blonde yells:
“You stay out of this! I’m talking to that little poop head  on your lap.”

So Much for Tolerance…

Starbucks CEO cancels church speech after protest

Tolerant liberals is an oxymoron…they claim to accept all, yet if you disagree with them they will do everything in their power to stop you.  They went after Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.

Via Komo News: Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz cancelled an appearance at one of the most prominent megachurches in the country after an online petition condemned the congregation as anti-gay – a charge the church denies.

Schultz had been scheduled to speak Friday at The Global Leadership Summit organized by the Willow Creek Association, based in South Barrington, Ill. The annual event draws tens of thousands of viewers via satellite. Past speakers have included former President Bill Clinton, GE’s Jack Welch and rock singer Bono. (How come they didn’t target those liberals? /sarc)

However, at the start of the event Thursday, the pastor of Willow Creek Community Church, Bill Hybels, said Schultz had cancelled suddenly after a petition was posted on the Internet a week ago that said his participation would be unacceptable.

The petition at Change.org accused the megachurch of “anti-gay persecution” over Willow Creek’s past relationship with Exodus International, a Christian ministry that offers to help gays and lesbians change their sexual orientation. Willow Creek cut ties with Exodus in 2009, church spokeswoman Susan DeLay said.

Hybels said that Willow Creek does expect its members to follow biblical ethics and reserve sex for marriage between a man and a woman, but welcomes worshippers of all backgrounds.

“To suggest that we check sexual orientation or any other kind of issue at our doors is simply not true,” Hybels said. “Just ask the hundreds of people with same-sex attraction who attend our church every week.”

Hybels asked members of the audience to write Schultz “with genuine Christian love” and say he’d be welcome at any future summit.

I don’t know if Schultz is a liberal or conservative.  I do know he’s a jerk for selling our Seattle Super Sonics out from us! Why couldn’t they just hit Schultz the hardest – in the wallet – and boycott Starbucks?  Nah, that wouldn’t get them the attention they demand!  Once again proving that tolerance is only acceptable if you agree with them.

The Sparrow at Starbucks

The  SPARROW at STARBUCKS
The  song that silenced the cappuccino machine

It was chilly in Manhattan but warm inside the  Starbucks shop on 51st Street and Broadway, just a skip up from Times  Square . Early November weather in New York City holds only the slightest  hint of the bitter chill of late December and January, but  it’s enough to send the masses  crowding indoors to vie for available space and warmth.
