On July 26, 2012, Moochelle wore a $6,800 all-white embroidered J. Mendel jacket to the Olympics Opening Ceremony reception at Buckingham Palace.
The New York Daily News gushed and cooed about Moochie’s jacket ($6,800) and silk skirt (price unknown):
“[Michelle Obama] put dozens of stuffy royals and heads of state to fashion shame, making the queen look dowdy in her bulging aquamarine dress and tired-looking crown — and even showing up Kate Middletonin her belted, fitted satin coat-dress.
Make no mistake, FLOTUS followers quickly pointed out, the radiant, silk-and-viscose tailored jacket — with the capped sleeves highlighting her famously toned arms and a matching ivory-silk pleated skirt — were made in the U.S.A.”
2½ months ago, on May 3, 2012, Ann Romney wore a $990 Reed Krakoff off-the-rack silk T-shirt with a large bird print during a CBS “This Morning” interview with her husband, Mitt.
The Washington Post‘s Suzi Parker scolded:
“Does Ann Romney wear her $990 designer shirt while driving one of her two Cadillacs?
The very wealthy Mitt and Ann Romney have often been painted as out of touch with average Americans. Ann’s pricey shirt will not help her husband change those perceptions, no matter how many Laundromat photo ops are on the campaign’s daily itinerary. [...]
Ann Romney’s wardrobe choice could haunt the campaign indefinitely. If it were a solid color, the designer tee might have been forgotten after awhile. But the yellow bird print is unique enough to become emblematic of wealth that most Americans could only wish to have. [...]
Some Americans might be thinking that the $1,000 spent on one shirt could help them out with a house payment or buy necessities at Walmart. Others are counting exactly how many T-shirts that amount would buy at Target, where first lady Michelle Obama said she often shops.”
But then neither Washington Post nor the NY Daily News nor any other liberal media was bothered by Moochelle’s $2,000 sundress:
