Gosnell verdict: Guilty of 3 counts of 1st degree murder!

The jury just delivered a verdict in a murder case virtually suppressed by the State Run Media.

Vince Lattanzio reports for NBC10 Philadelphia that after 10 days of deliberations and an announcement that they were deadlocked on two charges, the jury in the murder trial of former Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell just reached a verdict.

Guilty! – on 3 of 4 counts of first-degree murder.

Guilty! – of involuntary manslaughter in the death of former patient Karnamaya Mongar.

The jury of seven women and five men weighed more than 250 counts against Gosnell with the most serious being four counts of first-degree murder.

Gosnell, a resident of West Philadelphia, was charged on January 14, 2011 with 263 crimes, including first-degree murder in the deaths of four babies. Prosecutors allege Gosnell delivered the babies alive during abortion procedures and then killed them by snipping their spinal cords with scissors.

The 72-year-old is also charged with third-degree murder in the of former patient Karnamaya Mongar, 41, who died after she was given a lethal dose of pain killers and anesthesia during a 2009 abortion procedure at Gosnell’s West Philadelphia clinic, the Women’s Medical Society.

The majority of the 268 charges levied against Gosnell are related to Pennsylvania abortion-law violations. Whereas his defense attorney argued Gosnell would inject a drug into his patients’ uterus to stop the fetuses’ hearts before they were delivered, prosecutors Joanne Pescatore and Ed Cameron say Gosnell regularly performed late-term abortions on babies older than 24 weeks — the cutoff age in Pennsylvania.

At 24 weeks, a baby can hiccup and begins trial breathing with his own lungs. The baby can now survive outside of the mother’s womb with medical help.

Kermit Gosnell’s crimes came to light on February 10, 2010 after investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Agency raided the inner-city clinic at 3801 Lancaster Avenue following a tip that a prescription pill mill was operating inside.

Agents were met, not with an illegal narcotics drug operation, but rather, unsanitary conditions. Investigators testified they found blood-stained rooms, filthy and old equipment and untrained staff. Aborted fetuses were stored in a basement freezer in plastic food containers and bags next to employee lunches. Severed feet from aborted babies were found preserved in jars around the clinic.

The conditions found inside the clinic led Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams to call the clinic a “house of horrors” in a 2011 grand jury report.

Over the course of the trial which started on March 18 and lasted two months, former clinic employees testified against Gosnell.

Adrienne Moton, 35, was the first to testify that several abortion procedures in court including one where the mother delivered the baby into a toilet. The baby struggled in the bowl before she snipped its neck with scissors. Moton admitted to cutting 10 babies’ necks, calling the snipping  “common practice” at the clinic. One baby boy was nearly 30 weeks old when he was aborted. Gosnell even joked about the baby’s size saying he was so big the baby could have walked to the bus stop.

Lynda Williams, 44, with no formal training and only an 8th grade education, testified how she would administer pain killers and anesthesia acting as the clinic’s anesthesiologist. Williams was the person who delivered four doses of drugs to Mongar during her procedure. She described how the woman’s skin turned gray and her breathing slowed following the last dose. She also admitted to snipping the neck of one of the babies Gosnell is charged with murdering.

Both women pled guilty to third-degree murder in exchange for their testimony against Gosnell. They face 60-120 years in prison.

Other workers described babies being born alive, watching them breathe and seeing their limbs move before being “snipped.” Some described the babies as “aliens” who squealed and made odd noises, others said it would “rain fetuses” in the clinic.

During her opening arguments on March 18, prosecutor Pescatore told jurors that for Gosnell, his abortion practice was all about the money. “He had high volume and maximum profit,” she said. Police found $250,000 in cash during a 2010 search of his home.

Prosecutors claimed Gosnell would upcharge for pain killers and let the patients choose the amount of anesthesia they wanted. They were broken down into four categories — local, heavy, twilight and custom.

Pescatore also said Gosnell, who is black, would treat patients differently based on their race. White women would be taken to cleaner exam rooms and be treated directly by Gosnell. Black women would get dirty rooms and unlicensed workers.

The jury deliberating in the capital murder trial against former Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell says they’re hung on two counts.

The jury of seven women and five men are weighing more than 250 charges against the Gosnell with the most serious being four counts of first-degree murder.

It is currently unclear on which charges the jury is deadlocked, but the group told the court it has reached unanimous decisions on all other counts.

Around 10:00 a.m. Monday, the jury passed a note to Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart explaining their situation. The admission came on the 10th day of deliberations.

By law, according to attorneys for both sides, Judge Minehart is required to re-instruct the jury to deliberate on the two charges a second time and attempt to reach a verdict.

Around 10:00 a.m. Monday, the jury passed a note to Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart explaining their situation. The admission came on the 10th day of deliberations.

udge Minehart brought the jury into the courtroom on the third-floor of the Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center around 11:15 a.m.

Over a five minute meeting, he reminded the jury they must be unanimous on all counts and asked the group to return to the jury room and discuss the charges further. The group was grim-faced as they were led from the court.

Judge Minehart called the jury sincere, considerate and serious. The judge also said he wanted to make sure the group was not confused over the charges.

The jury now has three options: return to court with a question, request to re-examine evidence to try and break the deadlock or re-iterate they’ll be unable to reach a consensus on the charges.

Gosnell faces four counts of first-degree murder for his alleged role in the deaths of four babies. Prosecutors allege Gosnell delivered the babies alive during abortion procedures and then snipped their spinal cords with scissors to end their life.

The 72-year-old is also charged with third-degree murder in the of former patient Karnamaya Mongar.

Mongar, 41, died after she was given a lethal dose of pain killers and anesthesia during a 2009 abortion procedure at Gosnell’s West Philadelphia clinic, the Women’s Medical Society.

The former doctor’s defense attorney has argued Gosnell would inject a drug into his patients’ uterus to stop the fetuses’ hearts before they were delivered.

The majority of the 268 charges levied against Gosnell are related to alleged Pennsylvania abortion-law violations. Prosecutors say Gosnell regularly performed late-term abortions on babies older than 24 weeks — the cutoff age in Pennsylvania.

Jurors are also deliberating a handful of crimes against Gosnell’s co-defendant Eileen O’Neill. Prosecutors say O’Neill deceived patients and insurance companies by pretending to be a licensed physician and billing for those services.

Her defense has said while O’Neill was not licensed, she did have a medical degree and would always have Gosnell sign off on her recommendations and prescriptions. O’Neill’s attorney also said there is no evidence of the 56-year-old charging for her services.

The trial, which began on March 18, stretched on for nearly two months before being handed off to the jury.

More election fraud and illegalities by Democrats

This is a follow-up to my post of Nov. 2, 2012, “Democrat voter fraud,” chronicling yet even more election fraud and illegalities committed by Democrats.

1. A polling site in Philadelphia has a big mural of the POS [source]:

Pennsylvania election law states “no person within a polling place may electioneer or solicit votes for any political party, political body, or candidate, nor may any unauthorized written or  printed materials be posted within the polling place.” But this mural below is directly behind voting booths in a local school being used as a polling site. In addition to a big picture of Obama, the mural also has the words “change!” and “hope,” along with a quote from Obama.

2. The mentally handicapped are bussed in to vote – for Obama

Gregory Philips reports for the Arkansas Observer, Nov. 2, 2012, that a care home for the mentally disabled in Fayetteville, Arkansas, registered its residents patients to vote and drove them to the polls.

Jimmy Green told the Arkansas Observer that his mentally defective 57-year-old stepdaughter lives in that care home. She had never voted before and doesn’t understand the concept of casting a ballot. But this week, she called her parents to say she was taken to the polling station and voted for Obama. Green says “My concern is that somebody told her who to vote for. She didn’t even know there’s two different parties.”

Federal and state laws, however, have no competency test for voting. “The law specifically says that anyone with a disability is allowed to have assistance from anyone that they choose,” said Terri Robertson, director of the Cumberland County Board of Elections. “As long as they can communicate to us in some way that they need assistance and who they wish to have assistance from, the law allows it.”

Jimmy Green has not lodged an official complaint about his stepdaughter being escorted to the polls. He said he fears reprisals against her from the care home. “I’m not holding up for either party here in this case,” he said, “but it’s just not right.”

3. NAACP members improperly advocate for Obama in Houston, TX polling place.

Katie Pavlich reports for Townhouse.com, Nov. 3, 2012, that volunteer poll watchers at an early polling place located at 6719 W. Montgomery Road in Houston, said NAACP members were advocating for Obama.

According to Eve Rockford, a poll watcher trained by voter integrity group True the Vote, three NAACP members wearing NAACP-labeled clothing showed up to the 139 precinct location with 50 cases of bottled water and began handing bottles out to people standing in line. They were “stirring the crowd,” talking to voters about Obama, then began handpicking and moving people to the front of a long voting line inside the polling place. Some voters complained about the line cutting.

Rockford told Polling Supervisor Rose Cochran but was ignored. Rockford then went to the assistant supervisor, but he stood up, walked over to another table and then sat down. Rockford then received a phone call from downtown telling her to “stand down” and that it was okay for the NAACP to be within 100 ft. and to hand out water. Rockford said: “I told her that the NAACP was inside the building, wearing the NAACP clothing and caps and were handing out water and moving people from the back of the lines to the front of the lines.” At this point, NAACP members were instructed to turn their clothing inside out, which they refused to do and said they weren’t going to stop their actions inside the polling place. Their behavior and actions to move people to the front of the line continued for the rest of the evening. Texas State Representative Sylvester Turner, a former Texas NAACP leader, was also seen outside the building talking with voters. “The NAACP basically ran this poll location and the judges did nothing about it,” Rockford said.

4. GOP election officials were thrown out of Philadelphia polling sites.

FoxNews reports Nov. 6, 2012, that a Pennsylvania judge is issuing an order to reinstate about 70 Republican election officials across Philadelphia who allegedly were ejected or refused entry by Democrats on site. The GOP tells FoxNews one Republican election official “was shoved out of the polling place.” Republicans were drawing attention to the mural of Obama in one Philadelphia polling place. The on-site election officials are responsible for verifying the identity of voters, and monitoring for signs of fraud or disenfranchisement.

5. New Black Panthers seen outside Philadelphia polling place.

FoxNews reports Nov. 6, 2012, that a representative from the New Black Panther Party was spotted outside a polling site in Philadelphia. Although the NPPP member was unarmed, the incident stirs up memories of black-clad New Black Panthers carrying billy clubs in 2008, standing outside a Philadelphia polling site and intimidating voters. But Obama’s racist attorney general Eric Holder refused to prosecute the 2008 Black Panthers.

Violent home invasion by Black kids 7, 10, 12 yo

Elizabeth Hur reports for CBS Philly, August 7, 2012, that three black juveniles, including one as young as seven, are wanted for a home invasion in Philadelphia and savagely beating an Asian woman in the home.

The home invasion took place in broad daylight, around 3:30 p.m. on Monday in the 1200 block of Luzerne Street.

Authorities say the pre-teens beat the 51-year-old woman with a rock and  objects they found in the house, including sticks, rope, a plunger, and a potted plant. A family friend found her in the backyard, on her knees, crying and begging for her life to be spared. She was rushed to Temple University Hospital to be treated for cuts and bruises to her face and knees.

When police arrived, they found her room ransacked, cabinets emptied and the victim, an Asian female with mental disabilities, beaten and robbed. The three suspects, described by the victim as black juveniles, ran away with the victim’s purse.

A family friend asked that CBS Philly not identify the victim: “They just followed her. She just got back from doing laundry. When she got home, they beat her and threw stuff into the house. They kept asking for money and they took her purse with some important paper in there.”

Police were eventually able to identify the suspects as 7, 10 and 12-year-old boys.

“It’s amazing that these kids so young can be so violent,” Lt. John O’Hanlon added. Neighbor Edward Pastoriza said, “It doesn’t surprise me. A lot of these kids, they hang around with older kids and they learn how to do things like this.”

It turns out, the 10-year-old suspect was a neighbor of the victim. He was arrested almost immediately.

The victim’s family friend explained, “The parents came to apologize and after they saw what happened, they said to call the police.” Lt. O’Hanlon added, “The mother knew something was wrong when she saw the police and she basically came outside and said, ‘Here he is.’”

As of late Monday, police say they believe they have identified the remaining two suspects as 7 and 12-year-old boys. Police expect to arrest them shortly and charge the 10 and 12-year-olds with Home Invasion Robbery and related offenses.

By law, however, the 7-year-old is too young to be charged with a crime.

Mayhem in Philly: Black-Brown Mob Attack Man in His Home

A good Samaritan in Philadelphia gave shelter to two white teens who were being chased by a mob of “dozens” of black and Hispanic youths armed with bats and pipes and shouting “We got you, white motherf*ckers”.

The man, Mark LaVell, got his wife and 4 kids to lock themselves in their bedrooms, then deadbolt-locked his front door. But the mob broke down the door and entered the house. Levell fought with three of the invaders before police arrived.

ABOUT 11 P.M. on Sept. 9, dozens of youths with bats and pipes descended on a tidy residential area of Port Richmond looking for white teens who allegedly had attacked an African-American kid at Stokely Playground a couple of hours earlier.

Two fearful white teens spotted Mark LaVelle on Indiana Avenue near Belgrade Street and asked for help. Suddenly, the mob appeared. LaVelle, who said that he didn’t know the two kids, who looked to be 13 or 14, ran with them into his nearby house.

” ‘We got you, you white mother——-!’ ” LaVelle said he heard someone yell in the “mob” of black and Hispanic youths.

Inside his house, LaVelle, 37, called to his wife, Kim, 30, to go to their bedroom with their twin 13-month-old boys, Mark and Mason, and to call police. He also ordered his two other sons, 11 and 17, and his nephew, 7, to stay upstairs.

With the two teens hiding in the house, LaVelle, 5 feet 10, 220 pounds, a well-known sports-league organizer and coach in the community, went outside to try to calm the angry mob.

They were standing on his steps. One shouted, ” ‘Something’s going to happen now!’ ” LaVelle recalled in an interview Friday at his house. LaVelle got nervous and went back inside, locking his door with a deadbolt.

But the attackers pounded on his front windows and kicked his wooden door so hard, it flew open and some of them entered his house.

“The first guy hits me with a pipe. The second guy knocks me in the face. All I’m hearing is my wife and kids screaming,” said LaVelle, who feared that the next time they saw him, he would be in a casket.

He said that he was able to push the attackers out the door, but then a third man – who had a gun – tried to extend his arm. LaVelle grabbed onto the gunman’s lower arm and shoulder so he couldn’t raise the weapon. Then, police sirens screamed in the neighborhood, and the mob turned and ran.

LaVelle was able to identify three of the people from the melee. He said he did not know if they had been chasing the white teenagers, or if they were just trying to find someone to attack.

Police arrested Bergson Morin, 21, of Rosehill Street near Wyoming Avenue, Feltonville, as the man with the gun. They arrested Enrique Delgado, 32, of Rockland and C streets, Feltonville, as the man who hit LaVelle with the pipe. And they arrested a 17-year-old juvenile as the one who punched LaVelle in the face, giving him a black eye.

Feral Black Teens Attack Strangers in Philadelphia

The word “wilding” was coined in 1989, as a result of the brutal assault and rape of a white female, whom the media called the Central Park Jogger, in New York City’s Central Park. “Wilding” refers to gangs of teenagers assaulting strangers for fun.

The media won’t use the word “wilding” for the rising incidence of random attacks of strangers by gangs of feral teens who do it for fun, not profit, as the victims’ personal belongings are not taken. The media also will not say that the attackers are black and the victims white. But you can see for yourself in the video below.

The video presents three incidents of attack in the city of Philadelphia:

• In May 2011, outside Philadelphia’s City Hall and in broad daylight, four black female teens attacked a white woman, kicking and throwing her to the ground while laughing, screaming, and singing.

• On July 29, 2011, 6 black male teens “jumped” a man on the street. The teens were students at Mastery Charter School.

• On July 31, 2011, a white man named Christopher Dean was dragged off his bicycle by another teen gang, and attacked so brutally that his skull was fractured. Like the other two attacks, this also was not a robbery. The “wilding” teens were doing it just for fun.

 

Reminds you of the 1971 Stanley Kubrick movie, A Clockwork Orange, doesn’t it?

The city of Philadelphia has been plagued by teen mob violence and recently instituted a curfew in an attempt to curb the attacks. FoxNews says “Police have been contacted and are investigating the attack” on the white woman.

1 of 10 Stores in US Are Victims of Flash Robs

It happened again, last weekend, in a suburb of Washington, D.C.

I’m referring to what the media euphemistically and mistakenly term “flash mobs” when the plain truth is that these incidents should correctly be called robbery, looting, and race riots. The media also will not say what we can all see with our own eyes — the perpetrators are black.

Jack Cloherty reports for ABCNews, Aug. 16, 2011, that a “flash mob” invaded and looted a 7-11 convenience store in Germantown, Md., early Saturday morning, stealing all the snacks and candy they could get their hands on, then left the store as quickly as they came.

The store clerk pressed the silent alarm when he belatedly realized there was a robbery in progress, and a police cruiser responded in under a minute. But by then, the mob was gone.

Montgomery County Police spokesman Paul Starks said, “It was anarchy for 60 seconds. We’ve counted at least 28 individuals we can see on the surveillance tape. We already have a good idea of who some of these people are. We are going after them all, and if we can identify the ringleaders, they are going to face some serious charges.” Police suspect the mob was organized using social media like Facebook or Twitter.

The term flash mob was first used to describe impromptu gatherings of people to sing or dance in a public space, alerted by text, email or Twitter, but the Germantown incident is just the latest in a summer when flash mobs have turned from spontaneous, fun events to outright felony.

Other incidents include:

• Missouri riot: On April 10, 2010, some 900 youths, some as young as 11, converged on the shopping and entertainment district, the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. Police responded to reports of vandalism and assaults. One group of teens robbed and beat a couple from Grandview. A girl in a prom dress was shoved into a fountain. Fights broke out. Police had to use pepper spray to disperse the mob.

• Ohio race riot: On July 4, 2011, in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights, a group of 1,000 youths organized through social networking sites to fight and disrupt an event.

• D.C. mob robbery: On July 4, 2011, in Washington, D.C., a flash mob robbed a high-end clothing store earlier this summer.

• Wisconsin race riot: On August 5, 2011, a flash mob stormed the fairgrounds at the Wisconsin state fair in Milwaukee. “My mom just got attacked by a flash mob,” said a caller to 911. “Punched in the face for no reason. We need emergency help right away.”

• Philadelphia race riot & looting: Nowhere has the flash mob phenomenon been more popular than in the Philadelphia area. There, a man was assaulted by a group of about 30 who were believed to have gotten together through Twitter, according to the Associated Press. On June 23, a few dozen young people looted several hundred dollars worth of merchandise in the Philadelphia suburb of Upper Darby, Pa.

The surge in flash mob crime prompted Philadelphia to impose a curfew for all minors under the age of 18 in targeted enforcement districts. Philadelphia’s black mayor Michael A. Nutter said, “This nonsense must stop. If you wanna act like a butthead, your butt’s gonna get locked up. If you wanna act like an idiot, move; we don’t want you here anymore. Parents who neglect their children, don’t know where they are, you’re going to find yourself spending some quality time with your kids in jail together.”

In Phladelphia, there have been no more violent flash mobs after about 70 young people were detained and then released to their parents, with a warning.

Buried in the ABCNews account is this alarming statistic:

The National Retail Federation estimates that about one in ten stores in the United States has been the victim of a “flash mob” invasion and robbery.

The Federation’s spokesman, Joe La Rocca, says, “These incidents can turn violent, they can injure customers, they can damage the store and then there’s the financial losses the retailers suffer.” In most cases, by the time the police arrive, the mob is long gone, making for a long arduous process to identify and prosecute the culprits.

Obama & Holder Ignore “Beat Whitey” Black Riots

An editorial in Investor’s Business Daily, “Concealing Black Hate Crimes,” August 12, 2011:

Across the U.S., mobs of black youths are organizing on Facebook to loot stores and beat whites. Yet none dare call the “flash mob” attacks hate crime, least of all the attorney general.

The Associated Press is reporting that at least one of those arrested in the Wisconsin State Fair beatings said the mob was targeting whites, making it a hate crime. Where is Eric Holder’s civil rights division? About this epidemic of black-on-white assaults, we hear nothing.

At the Milwaukee fairgrounds, dozens of black teens suddenly appeared, knocking over children, looting the Midway games and stealing prizes. They pulled whites from cars, flung them to the ground and punched and kicked them in the face. At least 18 people were injured, including some cops.

A similar beat-down took place August 2010 at the Iowa State Fair. Organized as “beat whitey night,” bands of black teens targeted white kids, fracturing one of their skulls. Then the thugs swarmed police, hitting one cop from behind and busting both his eye sockets.

Earlier this month in Philadelphia, marauding black flash mobs beat and robbed tourists and other innocent bystanders. Several people were hospitalized, including one man with a fractured skull.

Mayor Michael Nutter, Philly’s second black mayor, said enough is enough. In an angry lecture from the pulpit of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, he blasted the punks, saying “you have damaged your own race.”

Similar attacks are under investigation in Los Angeles, Chicago, Cleveland and Washington, D.C., where our first black president remains mum.

Why isn’t Obama equally disgusted by the black pack attacks? Perhaps because his own church glamorized the thug culture. His mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, told his South Side Chicago flock that those committing black-on-black crime are “fighting the wrong enemy.” During the 2008 presidential campaign, Geraldine Ferraro condemned Wright for preaching to young blacks that “it’s OK to beat up on white people.”

Imagine if the flash-mob victims were black instead of white. Holder would have launched a special investigation. With the races reversed, he just shrugs. In so many words he has said blacks are incapable of hate crimes because of their victimhood.

“There is a pervasive hostility toward (prosecuting) these types of cases,” said Christian Adams, a civil rights attorney who quit after Holder refused to prosecute the New Black Panther Party for intimidating white Philly voters in 2008.

To Holder, blacks are the permanent victims. But his department’s own data say otherwise. In most cases of interracial crimes, the victim is white and the perp is black. Black criminals choose white victims 45% of the time, while whites victimize blacks 3% of the time. More than twice as many whites are murdered by a black than cases of a white murdering blacks.

And despite underreporting, blacks commit a disproportionate share of hate crimes. In 2009, almost 20% of known offenders of hate crimes were black, even though blacks make up just 13% of the population.

Holder presupposes all problems afflicting the black community come from the outside — racism, poverty, etc. Nutter make no excuses for bad behavior.

“Take those God-darn hoodies down, especially in the summer,” the Philly mayor scolded black youths. “Pull your pants up and buy a belt ’cause no one wants to see your underwear or the crack of your butt.” He added: “If you walk into somebody’s office with your hair uncombed and a pick in the back, and your shoes untied, and your pants half-down, tattoos up and down your arms and on your neck, and you wonder why somebody won’t hire you? They don’t hire you ’cause you look like you’re crazy.”

Candidate Obama vowed to stand up for a civil rights unit that enforces laws “fairly and justly.” If his attorney general doesn’t pursue these black mob cases as hate crimes, punishing the offenders, he risks giving white racists an excuse to respond in kind.

The dictionary defines “riot” as:

1. A wild or turbulent disturbance created by a large number of people.
2. Law A violent disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled for a common purpose.

The dictionary defines “terrorism” and “terrorize” as, respectively:

• The state of being terrorized
• To coerce by intimidation or fear.

By those definitions, what the media euphemistically call black “flash mobs” are really black RIOTS and black TERRORISM.

But Attorney General Eric Holder, who is supposed to be America’s chief law enforcement officer, is ignoring the riots and acts of terrorism. We all know that if the violent “flash mobs” were whites and the victims attacked were blacks, media headlines would be screaming “White Racism!!!!” and Holder and his boss — the squatter in the White House — would be all over this.

Most Dangerous Cities in America

We have good news and bad news.

The good news is that, according to FBI statistics, crime is down in the United States for the 5th year in a row. The statistics for 2010 show a 5.5% drop in violent crimes compared to last year. An example is St. Louis, Mo. — last year’s most violent city — saw an impressive 18% decrease in violent crime.

The bad news is that in certain parts of the country, things are getting much worse.

For example, Flint, Michigan — which has the dubious distinction of being the most violent city in America in 2010 — saw a 10% increase in violent crime over last year, with 2,208 violent crimes per 100,000 people.

Here are the 25 most violent cities in America, ranked by the number of violent crimes (murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault) per 100,000 people. The source of this list is an article by Leah Goldman in the Business Insider, May 23, 2011. But the article leaves out an interesting fact.

On average, blacks make up 12.9% of the overall U.S. population. On a hunch I looked up each of the 25 cities on Wikipedia, to find out the racial demographics of each. I found that, with the exception of Miami and Stockton, the percentage of blacks is above the national average in every one of the remaining 23 most violent cities.

25. Elizabeth, N.J.: 1,100 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Pop. 120,568 (2000): 55.78% White, 19.98% Black, 49.46% Hispanic or Latino of any race.

24. Lansing, Michigan: 1,101 per 100,000. Pop. 119,128 (2000): 65.28%W, 21.91%B, 10% Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Knock, Knock. Yo Listenin’, Obama?

On Oct. 5, 2010, as Obama was addressing Fortune magazine’s 2010 Most Powerful Women Summit at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., his speech was interrupted when the presidential seal on the front of the lectern clattered to the floor.

On June 30, 2011, it happened again.

David Gambacorta of The (Philadelphia) Inquirer reports that last Thursday, June 30, 2011, a magnetic presidential seal affixed to the side of Obama’s limousine flew off and whipped by motorists in the eastbound lanes of I-76.

Obama was in Philadelphia on a fundraising visit. Members of his motorcade saw the seal fall from his limo as it traveled on the expressway. A handful of law-enforcement officials tried searching for the seal in the darkness on Thursday to no avail.

The next day, a veteran Philadelphia police officer found the seal on the side of the highway. It is on its way back to Washington, D.C.
