Women speakers at RNC vs. DNC: Compare & contrast

Here are the female speakers at the just completed 2012 Republican National Convention:

• Mary Fallin: Governor of Oklahoma, the first woman elected to that position in OK. Previously served as a member of the House of Representatives from the state.

• Nikki Haley: Governor of South Carolina, the first female to serve in that position in her state, and at age 40 is the youngest sitting governor in the United States.

• Ludmya “Mia” Bourdeau Love: Mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and the 2012 Republican Party nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in Utah’s 4th congressional district.

• Susana Martinez: Governor of New Mexico, the first female to serve in that position in that state and the first female Hispanic governor in the United States. She is a former prosecutor.

• Condoleezza Rice: Former secretary of state in the George W. Bush administration, the first African-American female to hold the position.

Here’s the list of women speakers at next week’s 2012 Democratic National Conventions (h/t Dr. Kevin “Coach” Collins, The Western Center for Journalism):

• Tammy Baldwin: an open lesbian recently separated from her gay partner.

• Veterans Affairs Tammy Duckworth, endorsed by NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) Pro-Choice America and EMILY’S List, a political action committee (PAC) that aims to help elect pro-abort Democratic female candidates to office.

• Sandra Fluke: A 3rd-year law student and Democratic Party and “women’s rights” activist who, despite being 30 years old, thinks taxpayers should pay for the condoms for her sex romps which, according to her estimate, amount to $3,000 over 3 years.

• Nancy Keenan, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America: once a Special Education teacher caring for America’s most vulnerable children who now supports killing special needs children before they are born.

• Lilly Ledbetter: the plaintiff in the employment discrimination case Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and a women’s equality activist. No doubt she will remind the DNC that women on Barack Obama’s White House staff are paid 18% less than men in violation of the law named after her. [Snark]

• Caroline Kennedy: who has spent her whole life silently smiling while the men in her family have cheated on their woman, including her own mother. Despite her seller’s remorse about the POS, whom she likened to her father in 2008, as a loyal Democrat, in the words of Edward Klein (author of the bestseller, The Amateur), “she has nowhere to go, no one else to possibly support except Obama” and “the Obamas know that she has nowhere else to go, so they see no point in being nice to her.”

• Eva Longoria: best known for using her acting talents to celebrate adultery on the now-cancelled ABC show “Desperate Housewives”.

• Sen. Barbara Mikulski: a nominal Catholic with a 100% NARAL rating.

• Cecile Richards: the president of Planned Parenthood, the abortion mill to which Obama funneled $500 million of American taxpayers’ hard-earned money last year. PP will launch a bus across America to campaign for the POS.

• Kamala Harris: the 100% NARAL-rated California Attorney General.

• Elizabeth Warren: Massachusetts senatorial candidate who actually coined the expression borrowed by the POS, “You didn’t build that”, telling small business people they can’t succeed without government.

Every one of the DNC’s female speakers is stridently pro-abortion.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), since 1973, roughly 50 million legal induced abortions have been performed in the United States. World wide, there have been over 1,260,000,000 abortions performed. I can’t find statistics on the gender of aborted babies, but given the phenomenon of gender selectivity, it is reasonable to assume that females make up at least half of the abortions in the U.S., totaling at least 25 MILLION since 1973.

Abortion rates are much more common among minority women in the U.S. In 2000-2001, the rates among black and Hispanic women were 49 per 1,000 and 33 per 1,000, respectively, vs. 13 per 1,000 among non-Hispanic white women. [Source: Wikipedia]

Donors to Congressman who wants U.S. schools to be like Muslim madrassas

Remember André Carson, the Congressman who wants U.S. schools to be modeled after madrassas? A madrassa or madrasah is a Muslim school, college, or university that is often part of a mosque.

Steve Peacock reports for WND, July 21, 2012, that according to Federal Election Commission quarterly filings, thanks to large campaign donations, Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) appears well-positioned, at least financially, to fend off Republican challenger Carlos May in November.

After a $206,000 infusion during the most recent period ending June 30, Carson’s total receipts for the 2011-2012 election cycle jumped to $778,000. Even with $531,000 in reported expenditures, Carson still has $490,000 in campaign cash remaining.

So who are the donors to Carson’s political campaign? They include:

U.S. Marshal Kerry Forestal

1. An Obama appointee, Kerry J. Forestal, whom the POS appointed in 2010 to be U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Indiana. The following are Forestal’s known political donations to Carson:

• $1,000 to Andre Carson for Congress, on Feb. 4, 2008. Carson defeated Republican John Elrod one month later in a special election to become one of the only two Muslims serving in Congress at the time.
• $1,000 on June 30, 2009.
• $1,000 on May 7, 2012.
• More than financial contributions to Carson, Forestal and two other high ranking sheriff department officials also appeared in full uniform in political ads for Andre Carson. Forestal also hosted a fundraiser on St. Patrick’s Day with Carson.

2. Then-White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, who donated $2,000 in May 2008.

3. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who donated $2,000 in February 2008.

4. The Council of American Islamic Relations California PAC gave Carson $5,000 in August 2008.

5. The Arab American Leadership Council PAC donated $2,000 in October 2008.

6. Other group donors to Andre Carson in 2008 included the NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Fund for Children and Public Education ($10,000, followed by $4,000 in 2010, and $1,000 in 2011), NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC ($6,000), and Moveon.Org PAC ($5,000).

7. Unions, such as American Federation of State County & Municipal Employees People donated $28,000 over the past five years, and the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education, which donated $27,500 during that time.

8. Hundreds of thousands of dollars combined have come to Carson from financial and corporate special interests such as the General Dynamics Corporation PAC, General Electric Company PAC, Duke Energy Corporation PAC, Bank of America Corporation Federal PAC, and dozens of others.

Virginia Approves Bill Ending Most Abortion-Death Clinics

Va. OKs bill to likely close most abortion clinics

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – Virginia took a big step Thursday toward eliminating most of the state’s 21 abortion clinics, approving a bill that would likely make rules so strict the medical centers would be forced to close, Democrats and abortion rights supporters said.

 

Democrats and abortion rights supporters said the change would put an estimated 17 of the state’s 21 clinics out of business.

Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican and Catholic, supports the measure and when he signs it into law, Virginia will become the first state to require clinics that provide first-trimester abortions to meet the same standards as hospitals. The requirements could include anything from expensive structural changes like widening hallways to increased training and mandatory equipment the clinics currently don’t have.

While abortion providers must be licensed in Virginia, the clinics resemble dentists’ offices and are considered physicians offices, similar to those that provide plastic and corrective eye surgeries, colonoscopies and a host of other medical procedures. Most of the clinics also provide birth control, cancer screenings and other women’s health services. “This is not about safety for women. This is about ideology, and this is about politics,” said Tarina Keene, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia. “The women of the commonwealth are going to be the ones left to suffer.”

Abortion rights supporters warned of legal challenges while supporters heralded it as a way to make the procedures safer. “It is not about banning abortions,” said Sen. Jill Vogel, R-Winchester. “It is simply caring for women who are about to have an invasive surgical procedure and creating an environment for them where they have the opportunity to do that in a place that is safe.”

No other state requires clinics that provide early abortions to meet hospital standards. Nineteen states, including Virginia, require an abortion to be performed in a hospital after 12 weeks, according to the Guttmacher Institute, which tracks abortions and laws concerning the procedures.

More than 27,000 of the 28,000 abortions performed each year in Virginia are completed during the first-trimester, Keene said.

“Does Virginia really want to take the lead in such obstruction?” asked Sen. Maime Locke, D-Hampton, who called the bill “draconian and patriarchal at best.” Democrats argued it wouldn’t pass constitutional muster because it would put an undue burden on poor women and those in rural areas, where clinics likely would close. They also argued it would violate the equal protection guarantees of the Constitution by treating abortions differently than similar procedures. “Absolutely all that will be accomplished by this vote is to restrict access to a safe and legal procedure to poor women,” said Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple, D-Arlington. “This does nothing to end abortions. It is purely discriminatory. It makes me heartsick.”

Laurence H. Tribe, professor of constitutional law at Harvard Law School, said the bill would likely be deemed unconstitutional “because its transparent purpose and effect would be to make such early abortions far more difficult if not impossible for many women to obtain.”

Va Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who supported similar legislation as a state senator, said he believes the law would be constitutional. “For over 25 years, Virginia abortion clinics have not been held to minimal health and safety standards,” he said. “As a result, women who walk into these clinics are often not treated with the care and respect that any human being deserves.”

Anti-abortion bills typically die in a Democrat-controlled Senate committee, but Republicans in the House tacked it onto a bill that already had passed the Senate. Doing so allowed the bill to sidestep the committee and forced a vote on the Senate floor, where Democrats hold a 22-18 majority. Two anti-abortion Democrats voted with Republicans, and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, a Republican, cast the tie-breaking vote after hours of debate.

After it becomes law in July, the state Board of Health will take public comments before issuing the guidelines. The board is appointed by the governor.
