Donors to Congressman who wants U.S. schools to be like Muslim madrassas

André Carson (l) with wife and the POS

Remember André Carson, the Congressman who wants U.S. schools to be modeled after madrassas? A madrassa or madrasah is a Muslim school, college, or university that is often part of a mosque.

Steve Peacock reports for WND, July 21, 2012, that according to Federal Election Commission quarterly filings, thanks to large campaign donations, Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) appears well-positioned, at least financially, to fend off Republican challenger Carlos May in November.

After a $206,000 infusion during the most recent period ending June 30, Carson’s total receipts for the 2011-2012 election cycle jumped to $778,000. Even with $531,000 in reported expenditures, Carson still has $490,000 in campaign cash remaining.

So who are the donors to Carson’s political campaign? They include:

U.S. Marshal Kerry Forestal

1. An Obama appointee, Kerry J. Forestal, whom the POS appointed in 2010 to be U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Indiana. The following are Forestal’s known political donations to Carson:

  • $1,000 to Andre Carson for Congress, on Feb. 4, 2008. Carson defeated Republican John Elrod one month later in a special election to become one of the only two Muslims serving in Congress at the time.
  • $1,000 on June 30, 2009.
  • $1,000 on May 7, 2012.
  • More than financial contributions to Carson, Forestal and two other high ranking sheriff department officials also appeared in full uniform in political ads for Andre Carson. Forestal also hosted a fundraiser on St. Patrick’s Day with Carson.

2. Then-White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, who donated $2,000 in May 2008.

3. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who donated $2,000 in February 2008.

4. The Council of American Islamic Relations California PAC gave Carson $5,000 in August 2008.

5. The Arab American Leadership Council PAC donated $2,000 in October 2008.

6. Other group donors to Andre Carson in 2008 included the NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Fund for Children and Public Education ($10,000, followed by $4,000 in 2010, and $1,000 in 2011), NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC ($6,000), and Moveon.Org PAC ($5,000).

7. Unions, such as American Federation of State County & Municipal Employees People donated $28,000 over the past five years, and the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education, which donated $27,500 during that time.

8. Hundreds of thousands of dollars combined have come to Carson from financial and corporate special interests such as the General Dynamics Corporation PAC, General Electric Company PAC, Duke Energy Corporation PAC, Bank of America Corporation Federal PAC, and dozens of others.

House votes AG Eric Holder in contempt

For the first time in U.S. history, a United States Attorney General is found to be in contempt of Congress.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives in a 256-67 votes (with 17 Democrats joining the Republicans), voted to hold the Obama administration’s AG Eric Holder in contempt of Congress over the Fast & Furious Mexican gun-running operation that resulted in the deaths of Mexicans as well as U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

Stephen Dinan reports for The Washington Times, June 28, 2012:

The House on Thursday cited Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. for contempt of Congress in a historic vote weighted with political significance, though it does little to break the stalemate over his decision to withhold documents over the Justice Department’s actions in a botched gun-walking operation.

The 256-67 vote amounted to a political spanking for Mr. Holder and President Obama, and 17 Democrats joined with Republicans in demanding the documents be released. Most Democrats, however, walked out in protest of the vote.

It marks the first time an attorney general has been held in contempt by a chamber.

But the White House dismissed the proceedings as a sideshow, and the vote does nothing to break the impasse, though it further poisoned feelings in an already bitterly divided chamber.

“No Justice Department is above the law, and no Justice Department is above the Constitution,” said House Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican.

Democrats pleaded with the Republicans to slow down the proceedings, saying the oversight committee, led by Chairman Darrell Issa, California Republican, has done a shoddy job in putting together its investigation.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, even introduced a resolution demanding that the House reprimand Mr. Issa for partisanship and accusing him of having “engaged in a witch hunt.”

Many Democrats walked out of the contempt vote in protest, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, said the vote was a black eye for the Republicans.

“Just when you think you have seen it all. Just when you think they couldn’t possibly go any further over the edge, they come up with something like this,” she said. “What is happening here is shameful.”

So what does “in contempt of Congress” means?

Here’s what The Free Dictionary says:

An act of deliberate disobedience or disregard for the laws, regulations, or decorum of a public authority, such as a court or legislative body.

Individuals may be cited for contempt when they disobey an order, fail to comply with a request, tamper with documents, withhold evidence, interrupt proceedings through their actions or words, or otherwise defy a public authority or hold it up to ridicule and disrespect. The laws and rules governing contempt have developed in a piecemeal fashion over time and give wide discretion to judges and legislative leaders in determining both what constitutes contempt and how it is punished.

Contempt of Congress

The Constitution does not explicitly grant Congress the power to coerce cooperation from individuals or to punish acts of disobedience or disrespect through contempt proceedings. However, the power was discussed at the Constitutional Convention and was implied in the Constitution. In 1795, Congress used the power of contempt for the first time when it arrested, tried, and punished a man accused of bribing members of the House of Representatives. Then Congress acted on its own authority—subsequently called the Self-Help power, which grants Congress the right to compel testimony and punish disobedience without the involvement of a court or other government body if the individual’s actions obstruct the legislative process.

UPDATE:

This explains a lot.

The year was 1947.

Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, a little more than 64 years ago, numerous witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO), with five aliens on board, crashed onto a sheep and mule ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico.

This is a well known incident that many say has long been covered-up by the U.S. Air Force, as well as other federal agencies and organizations. However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April, year 1948, nine months after that historic day, the following people were born:

Barrack Obama Sr.,
Albert A. Gore, Jr.,
Hillary Rodham,
William J. Clinton,
John F. Kerry,
Howard Dean,
Nancy Pelosi,
Dianne Feinstein,
Charles E. Schumer,
Barbara Boxer, and
Joe Biden.

Clearly, this is the consequence of aliens breeding with sheep and jack-asses.

I truly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for you. It certainly did for me. And now you can stop wondering why they support the bill to help all Illegal Aliens.

Political plastic surgeries

From The Daily Caller 11/21/2011.

In each case, the photo on the left is “before,” the photo on the right is “after”.

As Nancy Pelosi’s politics go further and further to the left, her eyebrows drift higher and higher.

VP Joe Biden

These pics of Hillary Clinton are dated. The “after” photo on the right was taken during the 2008 primary elections when she magically appeared very fresh-faced in those debates with Obama. Since then, her Secretary-of-State globe-trotting must be keeping her from getting botox refills.

Senator John Kerry

Michele Bachmann

Mitt Romney: All those forehead frown lines have magically disappeared!

Can Obamacare disenroll us from our present health plan?

There’s a video that is getting around via e-mail, which contains an alarming claim about Obamacare, aka the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

The video is a statement by Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Michigan) at a House hearing in 2009 on the then Obamacare bill. Beginning at around the 1:20 mark, Rogers made an alarming claim that “Section 141″ of the bill says the government can “reach in” and “dis-enroll anyone” — you or me — from our present healthcare plan!

So I did some nosing around on the net and discovered that Congressman Rogers somewhat distorted the truth.

According to NationalJournal.com:

Section 141 of the House bill simply establishes the Health Choices Administration. The more controversial section Rogers was referring to is Section 142, which lays out the responsibilities and authority of the new agency’s commissioner. That person will be charged with making sure plans are enrolled in the Health Insurance Exchange and that plans in the exchange are offering adequate benefits for an affordable price. If a plan is not up to standard, the bill gives the commissioner power to levy fines or ‘[suspend] enrollment of individuals under such plan.’ However, this would only stop continued enrollment in the plan, not force people from their current insurance. For plans that continue to fall below requirements, the commissioner would work with state regulators to terminate the plan. This step would be taken only after warnings, and enrollees would be re-entered in the health insurance exchange to choose another comparable plan. So Rogers’ explanation of the section is technically right, but it comes with a caveat. Rather than the government being able to indiscriminately disenroll individuals and businesses from plans, people would only be removed from substandard plans after repeated warnings and attempts to correct those plans.

In the video, Congressman Rogers also made another claim that was upsetting. He said:

“Here’s the other tradeoff. According to… the National Cancer Intelligence Centre for the United Kingdom and the Canadian Cancer Registry, here’s the tradeoff that they picked by having government-run health care. If you get prostate cancer, you have a less chance of survivability than you do in the United States. And that’s the same for skin cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, cervical cancer, kidney cancer, ovarian cancer, leukemia, and the list goes on and on and on.”

This is what NationalJournal.com says:

“Rogers’ office cites statistics from the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Intelligence Centre in the U.K. and the Canadian Cancer Registry. They show that for most kinds of cancer, the five-year survival rates in the United States are higher than in Britain or Canada, which both have single-payer systems. The fact that Britain’s cancer survival rates are low have been well-reported; according to a study in The Lancet Oncology, England’s five-year overall cancer survival rates were fifth-worst out of 22 countries. Canada’s survival rates are much closer to those in the United States. According to the data supplied by Rogers’ office, Canada was within 7 percentage points of the United States on all but brain cancer, with most falling within 3 points. Canada actually leads the United States on cervical and pancreatic cancers.Additionally, that same Lancet study noted that other countries with single-payer systems have comparable rates to the United States, including Finland, Sweden and Iceland. In fact, Cuba’s system even showed a higher survival rate for breast cancer, although researchers admit that may have been due to poor record-keeping.”

Nancy Pelosi was wrong when, on March 11, 2010, she said in a speech that “we have to pass the [Obamacare] bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

The PPACA law that is Obamacare is so long (906 pages) and so complicated that, two years after Obama had signed the bill into law, we still don’t really know what’s in it.

H/t beloved Wendy & Tina
