Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan makes death threat

Last Saturday night, April 14, 2012, American black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan was the keynote speaker at the Diversity Leadership Conference in LeMoyne-Owen College, a private, historically black, 4-year college in Memphis, TN.

Speaking to a crowd of about 1,400, Farrakhan issued a veiled threat that “people…are gonna kill their leaders” (0:47 mark):

I’ve transcribed what Farrakhan said in the video clip:

“Now if you want to lead black people, you can’t love money more than you love your people. You can’t love the big house, the big car, more than you love the advancement of your people because the enemy prints money every day that has no value. So there is no real leadership if it’s not rooted in moral character.

You want to be leaders, right? You’re sure? You’re sure?

You’d better check yourself ’cause leadership is nothing to play with. Because people tomorrow, maybe in a few days, are gonna kill their leaders who’ve been sellin’ them out.

That’s why we’re in the shape we’re in right now, because we have corrupt people or people who started out good but got corrupted.”

Ironically, as reported by Scott Carroll for The Commercial Appeal, Farrakhan had prefaced his keynote address by saying, “I didn’t come here today to stir up your emotions, I came to cause you to think.”

LeMoyne-Owen president Johnnie B. Watson said he was pleased to host Farrakhan, whom he called “an iconic figure.”

This is the same Louis Farrakhan who lives in a big house in Chicago, supported by Nation of Islam donors; who calls white people “blue-eyed devils”; who believes that salvation for black people will come in the form of a huge “mother wheel” UFO; and who praises Zimbabwe’s president-for-life dictator Robert Mugabe — the epitome of a corrupt leader — for his forced “redistribution” of white-owned land and property.

Although he had supported Barack Obama in 2008, Farrakhan is no longer a supporter because of Obama’s support for the 2011 military intervention in Libya, which Farrakhan strongly opposes due to his own support for Muammar al-Gaddafi. Farrakhan now calls Obama the “first Jewish president.”

Is Farrkhan’s death threat directed at Obama?

Snake at 65 mph

Snakes give me the willies. I believe our fear of snakes is programmed in our DNA.

Rachel Fisher, a young mother with three young children in the back of her SUV, was driving at 65 mph along a freeway toward Memphis, Tennessee. A snake suddenly appeared on her windscreen.

As she screamed and giggled hysterically, her husband Tony recorded the incident on his camera phone and then posted the video on YouTube.

After two or three minutes, and with nothing to hold on to, the snake fell off. The couple believe it had crawled up in their engine the night before when they were parked in a wooded area, and slithered out when it got too hot.

Most Dangerous Cities in America

We have good news and bad news.

The good news is that, according to FBI statistics, crime is down in the United States for the 5th year in a row. The statistics for 2010 show a 5.5% drop in violent crimes compared to last year. An example is St. Louis, Mo. — last year’s most violent city — saw an impressive 18% decrease in violent crime.

The bad news is that in certain parts of the country, things are getting much worse.

For example, Flint, Michigan — which has the dubious distinction of being the most violent city in America in 2010 — saw a 10% increase in violent crime over last year, with 2,208 violent crimes per 100,000 people.

Here are the 25 most violent cities in America, ranked by the number of violent crimes (murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault) per 100,000 people. The source of this list is an article by Leah Goldman in the Business Insider, May 23, 2011. But the article leaves out an interesting fact.

On average, blacks make up 12.9% of the overall U.S. population. On a hunch I looked up each of the 25 cities on Wikipedia, to find out the racial demographics of each. I found that, with the exception of Miami and Stockton, the percentage of blacks is above the national average in every one of the remaining 23 most violent cities.

AMERICA’S 25 most violent cities:

25. Elizabeth, N.J.: 1,100 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Pop. 120,568 (2000): 55.78% White, 19.98% Black, 49.46% Hispanic or Latino of any race.

24. Lansing, Michigan: 1,101 per 100,000. Pop. 119,128 (2000): 65.28%W, 21.91%B, 10% Hispanic or Latino of any race.

23. Miami, Florida: 1,108 per 100,000. Pop. 362,470 (2000): 34.1% Cuban, 5.6% Nicaraguan, 5.5% Haitian, 3.3% Honduran, 1.7% Dominican, 1.6% Columbian.

22. Kansas City, Missouri: 1,126 per 100,000. 62.8%W, 28.6%B, 9.2% Hispanic/Latino of any race.

21. Nashville, Tennessee: 1,128 per 100,000. 65.9%W, 27.1%B, 7.5% H/L.
