Obama in Joker Mode as World Falls Apart

Pathological narcissism is a disorder described by the American Psychological Association’s Diagnostic Statistical Manual IV describes as “A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 5 or more of the following:

1. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance.
2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love.
3. Believes that he or she is “special” & unique & can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people or institutions.
   Requires excessive admiration.
4. Has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with her expectations.
5. Is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his/her own ends.
6. Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings & needs of others.
7. Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him/her.
8. Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes.”

Even during the 2008 presidential campaign, there were those who tried in vain to warn Americans that the man of many names with whom they’re so besotted, Barack Hussein Steven Dunham Soetoro Obama, is a pathological narcissist.

Examples of Obama’s narcissistic arrogance and sheer grandiosity abound. After he was elected President and his Demonrat Party won control of Congress, Obama dismissed the two-party system, the concept of the loyal opposition, and America’s founding principle of checks and balances when he declared to Republicans upset with the $787 billion stimulus porkulus package: “Deal with it. I won, you lost.”

Then there is what Obama told Rep. Marion Berry about the looming midterm elections in 2010. Increasingly worried about how Democrats would fare on November 2, Berry and others pleaded with the White House not to force Blue Dogs (southern Dems) “off into that swamp” of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home. Berry recounted what happened to Jane Fullerton of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette:

“I’ve been doing that with this White House, and they just don’t seem to give it any credibility at all. They just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, ‘Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.’

We all know what happened on November 2 – how empty Obama’s grandiose boast turned out to be.

One of the attributes of pathological narcissism is a lack of empathy.

Empathy is the ability to put ourselves in someone’s shoes and feel the emotions they’re feeling — an ability inherent in human beings. Babies as young as days old already display a primitive type of empathy (called “global empathy”) when they cry in response to hearing another baby cry. Empathy is what makes us human.

But not all humans display empathy. Psychologists have found that sociopaths/psychopaths or those with Anti-Social Personality Disorder (ASPD) lack empathy. I worry about anyone who does not have empathy, especially if this individual is president, commander-in-chief, and the most powerful man in the world.

As the disaster in Japan goes from bad to worse every day — with entire villages demolished by the 9.1 earthquake and the 32-ft tsunami that followed; thousands reported dead, more thousands missing; and half a million made homeless – there is human suffering on a scale unprecedented since World War II.

What is Obama’s reaction? A strangely affect-less statement, read from a prepared script (that someone else wrote for him), displaying not a whiff of emotion, even less of anguished empathy:

But Obama had no problem showing plenty of affect as he yucks it up at the Gridiron dinner. Well, at least he’s being consistent. As oil spewed from the floor of the Gulf of Mexico last year, Obama also yucked it up at the White House Correspondents’ dinner. 

And as the situation with the damaged reactors in Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant deteriorates by the day — the latest being this morning’s report that those 50 heroic workers who had gone into the plant have retreated because of the radiation rising to a level too dangerous even for them – Americans are more and more worried that a core meltdown will release a radiation cloud that will be carried by the jet stream to the U.S. west coast.

What is Obama doing about all this, as the world falls apart? Party like it’s 1999!

As Keith Koffler of White House Dossier observes in “President Obama’s Trivial Pursuits,” March 15, 2011:

[A]s Japan’s nuclear crisis enters a potentially catastrophic phase, we are told that Obama is videotaping his NCAA tournament picks and that we’ll be able to tune into ESPN Wednesday to find out who he likes.

Saturday, he made his 61st outing to the golf course as president, and got back to the White House with just enough time for a quick shower before heading out to party with Washington’s elite journalists at the annual Gridiron Dinner.

With various urgencies swirling about him, Saturday’s weekly videotaped presidential address focusing on “Women’s History Month” seemed bizarrely out of touch.

Obama Friday took time out to honor the 2009-10 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks. Thursday was a White House conference on bullying – not a bad idea perhaps, but not quite Leader of the Free World stuff either. Obama appeared a little sleepy as he weighed in against the bullies, perhaps because he’d spent the night before partying with lawmakers as they took in a Chicago Bulls vs. Charlotte Bobcats game.

Meanwhile, the president has been studying for weeks whether to establish a No Fly Zone over Libya, delaying action while the point becomes increasingly moot as Qaddafi begins to defeat and slaughter his opponents. And lawmakers from both Parties are wondering why he seems to be AWOL in the deficit reduction debate…..

But the fun stuff won’t end anytime soon. On Thursday, the Taoiseach of Ireland will be in town to help the president celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. And then Friday it’s off to Brazil for the start of a three-country Latin American tour.

I trust the 52.9% of American voters who had voted for this “man” with ice in his heart are happy with what they accomplished.

Harry Reid Is Mentally Ill

“But for me, we’d be in a worldwide depression.”

Demonrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nevada) said this on October 21, 2010 on MSNBC.

Such narcissistic delusions of grandeur are symptomatic of a severe mental illness. That 47% of Nevadans in the latest Rasmussen poll (Oct. 18) say they will vote for Reid is symptomatic of their own mental illness, or their willful ignorance, or just plain corruption.

Obama, Narcissist-in-Chief

A small number of people had known, since 2008, that Obama is a pathological narcissist. For us, the article below, ”The Condescender-in-Chief,” is simply a confirmation of what we already know. 

Here are the criterial attributes of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) from the American Psychological Assocation’s Diagnostic Statistical Manual IV. By my count, Obama exhibits all of the following traits:

To the millions of Americans who were so dense and undiscerning as to have voted for this fraud and now are finally seeing him as he truly is, here’s how he had played you as suckers: 

“The narcissist is hollow inside and derives his sense-of-self from seeing his reflection in the eyes of others. The psychological literature calls this “mirroring”: the narcissist mainly uses other people as a mirror to reflect his grandiose but false self-conception. Like a vampire who must feed on others’ blood in order to live, the narcissist feeds on other people’s admiration, approval, love, and adulation. Once the source is sucked dry, however, the narcissist no longer has use for them and will abruptly and mercilessly cast them aside.”

 The Condescender-in-Chief

Two years into the Obama presidency, and this kind of thing really shouldn’t be a surprise.

Obama told the several dozen donors that he was offering them his “view from the Oval Office.” He faulted the economic downturn for Americans’ inability to “think clearly” and said the burden is on Democrats “to break through the fear and the frustration people are feeling.”

The President believes that we are not “thinking clearly,” and that our attitudes and behavior stem from “fear and frustration”.  It is one thing for Obama to think that, but it is yet another for the President of the United States to say it out loud – about his own nation’s citizens.

But this is no surprise, is it?  This is the same man who accused those who disagreed with him of being hyper-religious, violent xenophobes:

And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

Yes, we remember that one well, don’t we?

A quick Google search reveals the extent of Obama’s condescension problem.  Article after article document his snooty, patronizing attitudes about those around him.

Recently, Obama even teed off on his own party.

Whatever complaints they might have about climate change or other issues, Obama said, it is “just irresponsible” that some Democrats and progressives were lacking enthusiasm for the election.

“If people now want to take their ball and go home that tells me folks weren’t serious in the first place,” he said. “If you’re serious, now’s exactly the time that people have to step up.”

Darcy Burner, of the leftist organization ProgressCongress.org, responded:

“Here we have a president who over and over again said that a public option was going to be a key part of the health care plan — who then, it turns out, cut a deal to get rid of the public option. And he’s upset at the base that worked so hard to try to get a meaningful health care bill,” she said.

“The least he could do is acknowledge that progressives have legitimate concerns. Instead he’s condescending. It’s not helpful.”

It IS rather amusing to see the tables turned on them.  Yet, Obama’s condescension towards his own ilk is not a new thing either.  The Huffington Post noted this attitude last year.  The conclusion of John Knefel’s article states:

And what these recent polls are showing is that if Obama continues to treat those who mobilized en masse to work for his election with scorn, derision, and disrespect, he can, and should, expect nothing but the same in return.

A prescient statement, considering how most pre-election polling indicates an apparent abandonment of support for Obama’s agenda by pretty much all but the most hard-core leftists.  Victor Davis Hanson spots this as well, and notes:

But polls suggest that these clueless and unappreciative Americans apparently believe that an elite education does not ensure their officials can balance a budget, pay their own taxes or speak candidly.

What an outrageous “How dare they!” thought.

Obama’s attitude undoubtedly originates from the bowels of liberal/leftist thought and his sheltered past as university academic wonk and community organizer.  Elitist liberals believe they know better than we do about how we should think and act.  From health-care legislation that removes choice, to limits on what foods we can eat and beverages we can drink, to motorcycle helmet laws and beyond, the leftist philosophy is to remove our ability to think for ourselves and turn it over to the State.  Their assumption is that we not capable of making our own decisions, and the desire to do so is met with disdain and condescension.  In his piece, Hanson also observes:

When America votes for a liberal candidate, it is redeemed by the left as intelligent – and derided as dense when it does not. We were told not to worry that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner did not pay all his income taxes since we were lucky to have someone so well-educated.

Obama’s tendency to be insultingly dismissive of those who disagree with him ultimately indicates a fundamental lack of perception of what’s going on in the United States.  He is like the child who covers his ears, closes his eyes, and chants “I CAN’T HEAR YOU… I CAN’T HEAR YOU!!”  It is a pathological case of denial.  As one of my distinguished colleagues notes, “he has never really considered the possibility that Americans aren’t actually liberals.”

I believe he may finally see this on November 2nd.

Obama Is Severely Delusional

D.C. investigative reporter Wayne Madsen, in an exclusive-for-subscribers report, confirms not only that Obama is deeply depressed, but that the President of the United States has gone bonkers. Obama is laboring under schizophrenia and Nixonian-caliber paranoia.

I do not believe that Obama is clinically schizophrenic, that is, has lost all touch with reality and is experiencing auditory and/or visual hallucination. What Madsen calls “schizophrenia” most likely is the realization on the part of formerly-deluded Americans that Obama is a pathological narcissist.

In 2008, due to the adulation of millions of deluded people in America and the world, the gap between Obama’s grossly inflated view of himself and who he really is was not so glaring. Now, after 20 months of this man’s disastrous presidency, more and more people finally see the chasm between fantasy and reality — except Obama. He remains deluded in his grandiose fantasies and, therefore, appears increasingly delusional (“schizophrenic”) to others.

Here’s the latest evidence of Obama’s grand delusion:

In an interview with the New York Times, Obama said he “expects” Republicans “to offer him more cooperation” — i.e., to help him achieve his policy goals — even if the GOP wins the November 2 elections!

Imagine that! The Republicans win the elections and are in control of Congress, but they’ll “cooperate” with Obama to achieve his agenda! What planet does this man live on?

Michael D. Shear of the New York Times writes on October 13, 2010:

President Obama said that he expected Republicans to offer him more cooperation after November’s elections, no matter the outcome.

In an hour-long interview with the Times’s White House correspondent, Peter Baker, Mr. Obama predicted that his political rivals would either be chastened by falling short of their electoral goals or burdened with the new responsibility that comes from achieving them.

“It may be that regardless of what happens after this election, they feel more responsible, either because they didn’t do as well as they anticipated, and so the strategy of just saying no to everything and sitting on the sidelines and throwing bombs didn’t work for them,” Mr. Obama said. “Or they did reasonably well, in which case the American people are going to be looking to them to offer serious proposals and work with me in a serious way.”

The president’s comments are reported in an in-depth assessment of Mr. Obama’s first two years in office that appears in the Times Magazine this Sunday.

In the article, which is based on interviews with nearly two dozen of the president’s advisers in addition to the president himself, Mr. Baker offers a series of inside details about Mr. Obama’s time in the White House, including:

According to his wife, Michelle Obama, Mr. Obama is not particularly fond of the presidential retreat at Camp David. Mrs. Obama reports that her husband, a longtime resident of Chicago, is more at ease in an urban setting. (Rush Limbaugh today made an excellent point: Obama, the “green” champion of global warming and the environment, hates the leafy environs of Camp David, preferring instead urban Chicago paved with concrete! ~Eowyn)
