Did cancer hats go to far?

Philly.com: Just hours before dawn on May 14, Jackie Underwood’s three daughters held her  in their arms as the cancer stole the last breath from her broken body.

For many days before, and almost every day since, her children – Makia  Underwood, 32, Zakia Clark, 29, and Tasha Clark, 27 – have worn hats and shirts  that read “F— CANCER,” with the “C” in “F—” replaced by a  breast-cancer-awareness ribbon.

“That’s how we feel. It took our mom away. It’s a demon. It’s the devil,”  Zakia Clark said. “There are no other words you can use to explain how you feel.  You want cancer to get cancer and die.”

Zakia and Tasha Clark were wearing their black-and-pink “F— CANCER” hats  Sunday when the three sisters went to King of Prussia (KOP) Mall with a group of  friends and relatives to pick out a dress for Zakia’s 9-year-old daughter to  wear to her grandmother’s funeral today.

The group shopped for 2 1/2 hours, then split up, and Zakia and Tasha,  Zakia’s daughter, an adult female friend and two girls younger than 5 grabbed  something to eat from Master Wok at the mall’s upper-level food court.

The ladies had just sat down when a security guard approached them and,  without a greeting, ordered: ” ‘Take your hats off,’ ” Zakia said. Zakia took hers off, but Tasha, who once worked at the mall, told the guard  she wanted to see something in writing. It was almost as if Tasha were channeling their mother’s strong spirit, Zakia  said, and it inspired her to put her own hat back on.

“He said, ‘Since you don’t want to take your hat off, you can leave my  mall,’ ” Zakia recalled. “He stood there while we ate and threatened to  call the cops.” Out of nowhere, Zakia said, seven more guards surrounded them. “I was very embarrassed,” she said. “My daughter was so scared she was  crying.”

As the group was escorted to the mall office, Makia called and met up with them. “I couldn’t believe they were acting like they were going to arrest my  sisters,” she said.

Once they got to the office, the women were met by an Upper Merion Township  police officer, who had been called to the mall by security guards.

“The officer said, ‘I find it offensive that you even have that hat that says  ‘F— CANCER,’ “ Zakia said. “He said, ‘It’s their mall, they want you out, you  have to get out.’ “

The women were escorted out, and two security cars were waiting for them at  their car just to make sure they left, Zakia said.

“I just wanted to tell them the whole story,” Makia said of the guards. “I  wanted to tell them a monster came into our house, got into my mother and we had  to watch that until the day it took her, so don’t tell me it’s offensive to say,  ‘F— CANCER.’ “

After the Daily News began looking into the incident, Les Morris,  spokesman for Simon Property Group in Indianapolis, which owns King of Prussia Mall, called Zakia yesterday to apologize. Zakia said Morris was sincere and even asked for her mother’s name and  inquired about her battle with cancer.

“Certainly this could have been handled in a much more empathic and sensitive  manner,” Morris told the People Paper. “We’re very sorry about her loss and  wanted to apologize for the way her party was treated.”

Morris said it’s important for the mall to be “flexible.” “I do think this is an entirely different situation than a 16-year-old kid with a swear word on his T-shirt cruising the mall,” he said. “We need to be  empathic, sympathetic, and listen and make sure that we’re approaching each  situation as it comes up.”

To express their displeasure with the way they were treated, the sisters and  Wade had planned a protest for 7 p.m. tomorrow at the mall entrance near  Nordstrom, Zakia said.

The event will go on as scheduled, and they will wear their “F— CANCER”  hats and shirts, she said. But in light of the apology, it will be more of an  awareness rally against cancer. The sisters won’t be wearing those shirts and hats today.

“I’m not mad at God,” Makia said yesterday. “But the picture of my mother I  was left with is beyond ‘F— CANCER.’ “

I’ve lost loved ones to cancer yet never had the desire to wear a shirt that says this. I’d be concerned about young children reading the words and parents having to explain them. What do you think?

Obamacare offers free sterilization to teens

Do you remember then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling on Americans to support the massive Obamacare bill that no Congressperson had actually read, saying that “we must pass it to find out what’s in it”?

Every day since the passage of that monstrous piece of legislation, we are finding out exactly “what’s in it.”

Here’s another “what” that’s in the abomination of the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare:

Did you know that Obamacare offers free sterilization to teenagers?

That isn’t actually in the Orwellian-named “Affordable Care Act” (Obamacare is anything but affordable). The devil is in the detail — in the many administrative rules and regulations conjured by the Executive Branch of the U.S. federal government to implement Obamacare.

Elizabeth Harrington reports for CNSNews that the preventive services regulation that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has issued under the Obamacare law requires health care plans to offer free sterilizations to girls as young as their teens.

The HHS mandate, which took effect last August 1, requires nearly all health care plans in the United States to provide, without cost sharing, “all Food and Drug Administration approved contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, and patient education and counseling for all women with reproductive capacity, from menarche to menopause,” which means all females who have begun ovulating, including teenagers.

The National Institutes of Health says that U.S. females usually start to menstruate “around age 12.” Thus the HHS-mandated insurance coverage providing sterilizations without cost-sharing would apply to girls as young as 12.

The Obama Administration announced in March that the preventive services mandate would also apply to college and university health plans, “to ensure students enrolled in these plans benefit from important consumer protections in the Affordable Care Act,” an HHS Fact Sheet stated.

Another mob of Black teens “working twice as hard” terrorizing Chicago

Alexandria Fisher reports for NBC5 Chicago that on Saturday night, May 18, 2013, Chicago once again was subjected to an unruly “flash mob”.

A group of 40 to 60 teens was seen disrupting and running through traffic along North Michigan Avenue in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Police arrested 12 people, including 11 juveniles, for obstructing traffic and being reckless.

The disturbance came on the same day that Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed into law new legislation that would implement harsher penalties for violent flash mobs who organize via social media.

Recent attacks along Chicago’s “Magnificent Mile” prompted concerns from many area residents. Last month, more than two dozen teens were arrested after groups began randomly attacking each other and pedestrians. “We see it virtually every year when the weather gets warm,” Supt. Garry McCarthy said after last month’s attacks.

The “flash mob” on April 1, 2013, involved as many as 300 to 400 swarming teens.

Reporters refuse to say it, but hundreds of “teens” swarming on city streets, “attaching each other and pedestrians” is a form of TERRORISM.

Reporters today simply refuse to actually report the facts. Facts like who these flash mobs are, and who are the “unruly teens” whom police arrested.

The man who became President of the United States despite being a B-average student, actually said: “As an African American you have to work twice as hard as anyone else if you want to get by.”

Hey, you POS in the White House. By “working twice as hard as anyone else,” are you referring to those “African American” teens in those “flash mobs” in your home Chi-town?

Report: IRS denied tax-exempt status to pro-lifers on behalf of Planned Parenthood

IRS officials refused to grant tax exempt status to two pro-life organizations because of their position on the abortion issue, according to a non-profit law firm, which said that one group was pressured not to protest a pro-choice organization that endorsed President Obama during the last election.

“In one case, the IRS withheld approval of an application for tax exempt status for Coalition for Life of Iowa. In a phone call to Coalition for Life of Iowa leaders on June 6, 2009, the IRS agent ‘Ms. Richards’ told the group to send a letter to the IRS with the entire board’s signatures stating that, under perjury of the law, they do not picket/protest or organize groups to picket or protest outside of Planned Parenthood,” the Thomas More Society announced today. “Once the IRS received this letter, their application would be approved.”

Planned Parenthood endorsed Obama in 2008 and 2012.

The IRS also pressured another pro-life group about its religious activities. “The IRS withheld approval of an application for charitable tax-exempt recognition of Christian Voices for Life, questioning the group’s involvement with ’40 Days for Life’ and ‘Life Chain’ events,” according to the law firm. “The Fort Bend County, Texas, organization was subjected to repeated and lengthy unconstitutional requests for information about the viewpoint and content of its educational communications, volunteer prayer vigils, and other protected activities.”

The IRS admitted last week to that some members of the agency targeted Tea Party groups for discriminatory reviews of their applications for tax-exempt status. The Justice Department has initiated a criminal investigation into the matter.

Please pray for our Dave

Update (May 16):

Last night, Dave’s dad passed away — quietly and peacefully.

Dave asks me to thank everyone who prayed for his dad and his family. He wants you to know that all your prayers helped a great deal.

He asks that we continue to pray for his mom — dad and mom had been married for nearly 64 years.

Please keep Dave in your prayers as well. His mom is also seriously ill, and Dave himself has diabetes.

Dave, one of FOTM’s writers, needs your prayers.

Dave’s dad has Alzheimer’s disease. About a week ago, he fell down the stairs and was taken to emergency hospital. He was kept in ICU for a while, then was released, after the doctors determined he did not have a stroke.

But now, Dave’s dad has stopped eating and is being kept (barely) alive with IV fluid. He will be moved to a hospice today or tomorrow.

Dave, who has diabetes, has been caring for his dad and his mom (who’s also ailing) for several years now.

Please say a prayer for Dave’s dad, and also for Dave — that the peace and strength of our Lord, Jesus, be with them both.

D.C. is turning against President Lucifer

Mike Allen and Jim Vandehei report for Politico, May 14, 2013, that Washington, D.C. is turning on Obama.

Here are the signs:

1. The Republicans smell blood: One-third of all committees in the GOP-majority House of Representatives are investigating one thing or another of the Obama regime. Top Republicans tell Politico the Benghazi and IRS investigations both will last at least months, and probably until the midterms of 2014 and beyond. Republicans are also working up plans to use the backdrop of government incompetence and over-reach to try to further undermine implementation of Obamacare.

2. Establishment Democrats, never big fans of Obama to begin with, are starting to speak out. One Democrat who likes Obama and has been around town for many years says Obama’s aloofness has alienated many Democrats who think him distant and unapproachable: “He has never taken the Democratic chairs up to Camp David to have a drink or to have a discussion. You gotta stroke people and talk to them. It’s like courting: You have to send flowers and candy and have surprises. It’s a constant process. Now they’re saying, ‘He never talked to me in the good times.’” Black Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-Md), a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, calls the IRS scandal “one of the most alarming things” he’s ever seen.

3. The liberal media are beginning to turn on Obama over the lies, bullying and shadiness. National Journal’s Ron Fournier, who covered the Clinton and Bush scandals and was once the AP Washington bureau chief, says: “One common thing with Benghazi and the IRS scandal, is we’re being misled every day. We were lied to on Benghazi, on the talking points behind Benghazi, for months. We were lied to by the IRS for months and now they’re sending a clear message to our sources: ‘Don’t embarrass the administration or we’re coming after you.’” Even diehard Obamabot New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd last weekend scolded the White House over Benghazi. The press, after years of being accused of being soft on Obama while being berated by West Wing aides on matters big and small, now has every incentive to be as ruthless as can be.

Whether all this means that the Dems and State Run Media will actually really desert America’s first black president remains to be seen….

Gosnell verdict: Guilty of 3 counts of 1st degree murder!

The jury just delivered a verdict in a murder case virtually suppressed by the State Run Media.

Vince Lattanzio reports for NBC10 Philadelphia that after 10 days of deliberations and an announcement that they were deadlocked on two charges, the jury in the murder trial of former Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell just reached a verdict.

Guilty! – on 3 of 4 counts of first-degree murder.

Guilty! – of involuntary manslaughter in the death of former patient Karnamaya Mongar.

The jury of seven women and five men weighed more than 250 counts against Gosnell with the most serious being four counts of first-degree murder.

Gosnell, a resident of West Philadelphia, was charged on January 14, 2011 with 263 crimes, including first-degree murder in the deaths of four babies. Prosecutors allege Gosnell delivered the babies alive during abortion procedures and then killed them by snipping their spinal cords with scissors.

The 72-year-old is also charged with third-degree murder in the of former patient Karnamaya Mongar, 41, who died after she was given a lethal dose of pain killers and anesthesia during a 2009 abortion procedure at Gosnell’s West Philadelphia clinic, the Women’s Medical Society.

The majority of the 268 charges levied against Gosnell are related to Pennsylvania abortion-law violations. Whereas his defense attorney argued Gosnell would inject a drug into his patients’ uterus to stop the fetuses’ hearts before they were delivered, prosecutors Joanne Pescatore and Ed Cameron say Gosnell regularly performed late-term abortions on babies older than 24 weeks — the cutoff age in Pennsylvania.

At 24 weeks, a baby can hiccup and begins trial breathing with his own lungs. The baby can now survive outside of the mother’s womb with medical help.

This is what a 24-week-old baby looks like. His name is Toby and he was born premature. Toby is now a healthy 4-year-old boy:

Kermit Gosnell’s crimes came to light on February 10, 2010 after investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Agency raided the inner-city clinic at 3801 Lancaster Avenue following a tip that a prescription pill mill was operating inside.

Agents were met, not with an illegal narcotics drug operation, but rather, unsanitary conditions. Investigators testified they found blood-stained rooms, filthy and old equipment and untrained staff. Aborted fetuses were stored in a basement freezer in plastic food containers and bags next to employee lunches. Severed feet from aborted babies were found preserved in jars around the clinic.

The conditions found inside the clinic led Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams to call the clinic a “house of horrors” in a 2011 grand jury report.

Over the course of the trial which started on March 18 and lasted two months, former clinic employees testified against Gosnell.

Adrienne Moton, 35, was the first to testify that several abortion procedures in court including one where the mother delivered the baby into a toilet. The baby struggled in the bowl before she snipped its neck with scissors. Moton admitted to cutting 10 babies’ necks, calling the snipping  “common practice” at the clinic. One baby boy was nearly 30 weeks old when he was aborted. Gosnell even joked about the baby’s size saying he was so big the baby could have walked to the bus stop.

Lynda Williams, 44, with no formal training and only an 8th grade education, testified how she would administer pain killers and anesthesia acting as the clinic’s anesthesiologist. Williams was the person who delivered four doses of drugs to Mongar during her procedure. She described how the woman’s skin turned gray and her breathing slowed following the last dose. She also admitted to snipping the neck of one of the babies Gosnell is charged with murdering.

Both women pled guilty to third-degree murder in exchange for their testimony against Gosnell. They face 60-120 years in prison.

Other workers described babies being born alive, watching them breathe and seeing their limbs move before being “snipped.” Some described the babies as “aliens” who squealed and made odd noises, others said it would “rain fetuses” in the clinic.

During her opening arguments on March 18, prosecutor Pescatore told jurors that for Gosnell, his abortion practice was all about the money. “He had high volume and maximum profit,” she said. Police found $250,000 in cash during a 2010 search of his home.

Prosecutors claimed Gosnell would upcharge for pain killers and let the patients choose the amount of anesthesia they wanted. They were broken down into four categories — local, heavy, twilight and custom.

Pescatore also said Gosnell, who is black, would treat patients differently based on their race. White women would be taken to cleaner exam rooms and be treated directly by Gosnell. Black women would get dirty rooms and unlicensed workers.

The jury deliberating in the capital murder trial against former Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell says they’re hung on two counts.

The jury of seven women and five men are weighing more than 250 charges against the Gosnell with the most serious being four counts of first-degree murder.

It is currently unclear on which charges the jury is deadlocked, but the group told the court it has reached unanimous decisions on all other counts.

Around 10:00 a.m. Monday, the jury passed a note to Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart explaining their situation. The admission came on the 10th day of deliberations.

By law, according to attorneys for both sides, Judge Minehart is required to re-instruct the jury to deliberate on the two charges a second time and attempt to reach a verdict.

Around 10:00 a.m. Monday, the jury passed a note to Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart explaining their situation. The admission came on the 10th day of deliberations.

By law, according to attorneys for both sides, Judge Minehart is required to re-instruct the jury to deliberate on the two charges a second time and attempt to reach a verdict.

Over a five minute meeting, he reminded the jury they must be unanimous on all counts and asked the group to return to the jury room and discuss the charges further. The group was grim-faced as they were led from the court.

Judge Minehart called the jury sincere, considerate and serious. The judge also said he wanted to make sure the group was not confused over the charges.

The jury now has three options: return to court with a question, request to re-examine evidence to try and break the deadlock or re-iterate they’ll be unable to reach a consensus on the charges.

Gosnell faces four counts of first-degree murder for his alleged role in the deaths of four babies. Prosecutors allege Gosnell delivered the babies alive during abortion procedures and then snipped their spinal cords with scissors to end their life.

Mongar, 41, died after she was given a lethal dose of pain killers and anesthesia during a 2009 abortion procedure at Gosnell’s West Philadelphia clinic, the Women’s Medical Society.

The former doctor’s defense attorney has argued Gosnell would inject a drug into his patients’ uterus to stop the fetuses’ hearts before they were delivered.

Her defense has said while O’Neill was not licensed, she did have a medical degree and would always have Gosnell sign off on her recommendations and prescriptions. O’Neill’s attorney also said there is no evidence of the 56-year-old charging for her services.

The trial, which began on March 18, stretched on for nearly two months before being handed off to the jury.

More Americans are on disability than the entire population of Greece

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) has become the new government welfare.

A record number of 11 million (10,962,532) Americans are now on SSDI, which is 147,335 more people than the total population of the country Greece.

Terence Jeffrey reports for CNSNews, May 7, 2013, that April was the 195^th straight month that the number of American workers collecting federal disability payments had increased.

Newly released data from the Social Security Administration show a record 10,962,532 total disability beneficiaries in April, including a record 8,865,586 disabled workers (up from 8,853,614 in March), 1,936,236 children of disabled workers, and 160,710 spouses of disabled workers.

According to its latest census, Greece had only 10,815,197 residents.

As the overall number of American workers collecting disability has increased, the ratio of full-time workers to disability-collecting workers has decreased.

In December 1968, 1,295,428 American workers collected disability and, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 65,630,000 worked full-time. Thus, there were about 51 full-time workers for each worker collecting disability. In April 2013, with a record 8,865,586 American workers collecting disability and 116,053,000 working full-time, there were only 13 Americans working full-time for each worker on disability.

Jim Quinn of The Burning Platform blog points out that the drastic increase in the number of Americans on SSDI has nothing to do with the aging of the population. As he puts it:

“Even the most pollyanna would agree that medical advancements since 1968 have been significant. These medical advancements would argue for less people being on disability and unable to work. Workplace safety measures have been increased exponentially since 1968, so that also argues for less disabled workers. The good old ADA law forced all workplaces to become disabled friendly. That argues for less people on disability. The country has transitioned from a manufacturing society to a service society. Workers don’t work on dangerous assembly lines anymore. Robots do the dangerous stuff. This should have dramatically reduced worker injuries and disabilities.

Everything I’ve pointed out is true. The tremendous increase in people on SSDI is nothing but a gigantic fraud, perpetuated by the Federal government and slimy lawyers. The government broadened the scope of disabilities to include stress, depression, and non-diagnosable things like aches and pains. I have stress, depression and pains too, but I get up at 5:15 every morning and go to work. The SSDI program is a joke. More than half the people on SSDI are lazy good for nothing leeches. They are sucking you and I dry while sitting around eating cheetos, watching Judge Judy on their government subsidized cable TV, and texting with other lazy fucks on their iPhones.

And don’t forget, you get the added benefit of Medicare coverage after only two years of SSDI stress [even if you're not yet Medicare age].”

My husband and I watch Judge Judy when we dine. I can’t tell you how many times a litigant in her court turns out to be living on Social Security Disability “benefits” although they appear to have NOTHING physically wrong with them. They walk down the aisle normally, without aid. And from their testimonies, they live a normal active life.

This is not to say there are no legitimate recipients of SSDI. But you and I both personally know people who are on SSDI who, in a just world, shouldn’t. My husband has a niece who had never worked at a paying job but has been on SSDI for her entire life. Her “disability” however had not prevented her from marrying, having two kids (the son is a petty criminal), and divorcing. In December 2008, The Oregonian uncovered potential SSDI fraud of $11 billion.

Once a person gets on SSDI, he/she rarely ever returns to the work force.

A recent Bloomberg article cites a federal government report: “Workers on SSDI rarely return to the labor force, resulting in a loss to society of the economic contribution those workers could have made.” Government data show that more than 99% of all SSDI beneficiaries remain in the program until retirement age! 

You and I both know that this is unsustainable and cannot continue.

Congressional estimates say the trust fund that supports SSDI will run out of money in 4 years, by 2017, leaving the program unable to pay full benefits, unless Congress acts. By 2036, about two decades later, Social Security’s much larger retirement fund is projected to run dry, too, leaving it unable to pay full benefits as well.
