The folks who are getting the free stuff don’t like the folks who are paying for the free stuff, because the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff.

And the folks who are paying for the free stuff  want the free stuff to stop.

And the folks who are getting the free stuff want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting!

Now the people who are forcing the people who pay for the free stuff have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff  that the people who are PAYING for the free stuff are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.

So the people who are GETTING the free stuff  have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff   by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff and giving them the free stuff in the first place.
We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.

Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason?
The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.
The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 236 years ago. The number of people now getting free stuff outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it.

Angel over Bardstown police officer’s funeral

On Thursday, May 30, 2013, an angel stood watch over the funeral of police officer Jason Ellis, 33, at High View Cemetery in Chaplin, Kentucky.

The above pic was taken by a friend of WAVE TV weatherman Kevin Harned, posted to Harned’s Facebook page.

Ellis was a K-9 officer of the Bardstown Police Department (Bardstown is about 19 miles southwest of Chaplin). He had been shot and killed five days earlier in an ambush on an interstate highway ramp.

Michael Walsh reports for the New York Daily News, June 3, 2013, that among the mourners paying their last respects at Officer Ellis’ funeral was his partner, Figo.

Figo, a police dog, bowed his muzzle and reached his paw out to touch his partner’s casket.

Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin told the Daily News that Ellis and Figo together had made a dent in the local community’s drug problem over the last few years: “Figo was almost giving him that final hug goodbye. I think that picture brought more tears than anything. Ellis knew that Figo was a great partner. When you are a canine cop you have one of the best partners in the world. He had the dog for several years and his boys basically grew up with Figo around.”

McCubbin retired Figo from service a day after the funeral so the dog could live with Ellis’ family, providing the young boys a connection with their father.

In the days after his death, officers transformed a cop car parked in front of their station into a memorial. Other well-wishers held candlelight vigils, organized a fund for Ellis’ family and established a scholarship for students wishing to pursue law enforcement.

“If this world had a lot more Jason Ellis out there, we wouldn’t have these kinds of tragedies,” said childhood friend Jason Meenach. “I can only hope they find the person who did this and justice is brought.”

Anyone with information concerning Ellis’ death is asked to contact the Bardstown Police Department 502-348-6811, Kentucky State Police 800-222-5555 or Nelson County Dispatch 502-348-3211. As of June 3, the award for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his death is $125,000.

Coming our way: Christianity as mental illness

Christians are already identified as potential terrorists by the Obama regime’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Now a British science writer named Kathleen Taylor, is advancing a provocative and politically incendiary idea — that “religious fundamentalism” (whatever that term means) may one day be treated as a mental illness.

The (UK) Times refers to Taylor as “a science author and research scientist at the University of Oxford.” But Taylor describes herself as “a freelance science writer affiliated to the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford,” who had “trained as a neuroscientist after doing a first degree in philosophy and physiology at the University of Oxford.” She specifically states she is not a “therapist”. And yet she’s tossing claims about “religious fundamentalism” being a “mental illness”!

(Note: I’ve spent most of life in academe, beginning as an undergraduate student to eventually being a full professor, but I have no idea what a freelance writer “affiliated” to a university means. I am retired from my university and although I’m no longer employed there, I am “affiliated” to my university as a professor emeritus. In Taylor’s case, however, her “affiliation” to Oxford carries no title. It appears what her “affiliation” means is that she was a student at Oxford U.)

The (UK) Times‘ article on Taylor is titled “Science ‘may one day cure Islamic radicals’,” and attributes to Taylor the claim that “Muslim fundamentalism may one day be seen in the same way as mental illness is today and be ‘curable’.”

Curiously, Huffington Post‘s account of Taylor makes no mention of radical Islam but refers only to a vaguely generic “religious fundamentalism.” According to HuffPo, Taylor was speaking at the Hay Literary Festival in Wales when she was asked what she foresaw as positive developments in neuroscience in the coming years.

She replied: “One man’s positive can be another man’s negative. One of the surprises may be to see people with certain beliefs as people who can be treated. Someone who has for example become radicalized to a cult ideology – we might stop seeing that as a personal choice that they have chosen as a result of pure free will and may start treating it as some kind of mental disturbance. In many ways it could be a very positive thing because there are no doubt beliefs in our society that do a heck of a lot of damage. I am not just talking about the obvious candidates like radical Islam or some of the more extreme cults. I am talking about things like the belief that it is OK to beat your children. These beliefs are very harmful but are not normally categorized as mental illness.”

Links between extreme faiths and mental health have been made before, with former president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Dr Dinesh Bhugra, highlighting recent religious conversions being more associated with a developing psychotic mental illness. In a paper entitled ‘Self-concept: Psychosis and attraction of new religious movements’, he points to data from studies which shows that patients with first onset psychosis are likely to change their religion.

The HuffPo article got more than 5,700 “likes” on Facebook.

So who decides what constitutes “religious fundamentalism” or “a cult ideology” or “beliefs in our society that do a heck of a lot of damage“?

Today, Kathleen Taylor says radical Islam fits the bill. But once the idea of religious beliefs being a form of mental illness catches on, who’s to say that Christianity won’t be “diagnosed” as a mental illness?

The problem is the vagueness and ambiguity of terms such as “religious fundamentalism,” “cult ideology,” and “beliefs that do a lot of damage” — a vagueness of which Kathleen Taylor seems blithely unaware.

That same obtuseness to the importance of clear and specific terminology is also displayed in a “Meet the Author” video, in which Taylor talks about “brainwashing” — which includes religious brainwashing — in a distressingly vague way that any self-respecting scientist should eschew.

In the video, Taylor seems to define “brainwashing” as “the extreme end” of changing a person’s beliefs. By “extreme end” she means the employment of “coercion,” “force,” and “psychological torture.”

But what is “coercion”? Does “coercion” include children being taught the Bible by their parents, church, and parochial schools? Does “coercion” include our soldiers’ sharing of their religious beliefs being labeled as “religious proselytization” and threatened with court martial?

In case you don’t know, religious believers were incarcerated in mental hospitals in the Soviet Union, as well as in the People’s Republic of China. Just ask the neo-Buddhist sect Falun Gong, whose adherents have been and are still being hounded, arrested, tortured and killed in China today.

Powerful Congressional testimony by Columbine victim’s father

On May 27, 1999, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Joy Scott — a student killed in the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado — delivered a powerful speech during his testimony before the Subcommittee on Crime of the House Judiciary Committee.

This has been authenticated by Truth or Fiction.

Although there wasn’t a great deal of major news coverage — you aren’t likely to have seen it on television, for example — Mr. Scott’s speech was covered nationally by the Scripps Howard and Associated Press wire services, as well as in daily newspapers across the U.S., such as the Denver Rocky Mountain News, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Washington Times, the Boston Globe, the Arizona Republic, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and the Chicago Sun-Times.

This is what Darrell Scott said:

“Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain’s heart.

In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA – because I don’t believe that they are responsible for my daughter’s death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel’s murder I would be their strongest opponent

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy — it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You’ve stripped away our heritage,
You’ve outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question “Why?”
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation’s history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact.

What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine’s tragedy occurs — politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws.

Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school.  I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America, and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him.

To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA — I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!

My daughter’s death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!”  – Darrell Scott

Mr. Scott delivered this speech 14 years ago. Sadly, it looks like his words have been ignored by the Democrats Left in Congress, the White House, the state controlled media, and by public schools faculty and administrators across America.

Military told not to read Obama scandal news

Gina Loudon reports for WND, June 9, 2013, that the U.S. Air Force is ordering members of the service not to look at news stories about their commander-in-chief President Lucy’s many scandals.

WND received an unclassified NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) that warns our airmen not to look at news stories related to the data-mining scandal.

The notice applies to users of the Air Force NIPRNET (Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network), which is the only way that many troops stationed overseas and on bases in the U.S. are able to access the Internet.

The last line of the executive summary states:

“Users are not to use AF NIPRNET systems to access the Verizon phone records collection and other related news stories because the action could constitute a Classified Message Incident.”

Here’s the memo:

Cindy McGee, the mother of an airman stationed in the UAE who had received the memo, told WND:

“The fact that our government is attempting to censor our service members from the truth of what is happening here at home is truly frightening and disheartening. “I am outraged that our government is attempting to censor the information from our military that every citizen in this country is potentially being targeted by our government in a massive overreach of their constitutional powers by unconstitutional surveillance of all Americans and storage of that data.”

Last Wednesday, the Guardian broke the news of the top-secret court order requiring Verizon to hand over all of its call data on an ongoing basis to the National Security Agency. This was followed two days later by the Washington Post reporting that the NSA and FBI are gathering data from the servers of nine U.S. Internet companies. Then reports came out that there are 50 companies from which the government is collecting data.

During a press conference, Pres. Lucy dismissed concerns over his regime’s Big Brother surveillance programs as mere “hype.”

You may ask: “Okay. So what happens if a member of our military disobeys the order?”

Answer: You will be punished!

Just ask Master Sgt. Nathan Sommers.

Todd Starnes reports for FoxNews, June 7, 2013, that Sommers is a 25-year Army veteran and conservative Christian based at Fort Myer in Washington who says he is facing retribution and punishment from the military for having anti-Obama bumper stickers on his car, reading books written by conservative authors like Mark Levin and David Limbaugh, and serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at his promotion party.

Sommers’ outspoken opposition to homosexual marriage prompted higher-ups to take a closer look at his beliefs. The recipient of an Army Commendation Medal and a soloist at the funeral of former First Lady Betty Ford, Sommers said his core beliefs are enough to mark a soldier for persecution in today’s military.

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Uncovered documents show the U.S. State Department may have covered up allegations of illegal behavior ranging from sexual assaults to an underground drug ring.

CBS News reports that is has unearthed documents from the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), an internal watchdog agency, that implicate the State Department in a series of misconducts worldwide.

The memo, reported by CBS News’ John Miller, cited eight specific examples, including allegations that a State Department security official in Beirut “engaged in sexual assaults” with foreign nationals hired as embassy guards and the charge and that members of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s security detail “engaged prostitutes while on official trips in foreign countries” — a problem the report says was “endemic.”

Former State Department internal investigator Aurelia Fedenisn told CBS News, “We also uncovered several allegations of criminal wrongdoing in cases, some of which never became cases.”

Often times, other DSS agents were simply told to back off of investigations of high-ranking State Department members. Fedenisn told CBS that “hostile intelligence services” allow criminal behavior to continue.

In one such cover-up, investigators were told to stop probing the case of a U.S. ambassador who was suspected of patronizing prostitutes in a public park. The memo states that the ambassador was permitted to return to his post despite having, “routinely ditched…his protective security detail” in order to “solicit sexual favors from prostitutes.”

A draft of the Inspector General’s report on the performance of the Diplomatic Security Service, obtained by CBS News, states, “Hindering such cases calls into question the integrity of the investigative process, can result in counterintelligence vulnerabilities and can allow criminal behavior to continue.”

Fedenisn was part of the team that drafted the whistleblower report, and CBS News reports that two hours after the charges were reported, investigators from the State Department’s Inspector General showed up at her door.

A statement to CBS News states, “It goes without saying that the Department does not condone interference with investigation by any of its employees.”

Pentagon Removes Air Force Tribute Video For Mentioning God.

how dare they make a video that could be insulting to flea ridden dirt bag muzzies or                                             stupid bastard “i’m smarter THAN everyone else” So therefore there is no God and I am an ATHEIST . people listen up. these .012 % of the population have feelings damnit. An Air Force video saluting first sergeants was ordered removed by the Pentagon because it mentions the word “God” which, top brass fears, may insult atheists or Muslims.         Boo Fricken Hoo!!!

Ahhchhhpatooeymed, You say the sweetest things to a girl. Uhh I mean Camel.

The video was based on the famous “So God made a farmer” commentary written and narrated by the late radio broadcaster Paul Harvey. The Harvey piece was later dusted off and used in a Dodge Ram Super Bowl commercial.

The first sergeant tribute was created by a Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst chaplain as a poem, which was later made into a video titled, “So God created a First Sergeant,” according to Fox News Radio’s Todd Starnes.

The chaplain leaders at the New Jersey joint Army, Navy and Air Force base gave the tribute its seal of approval, as did the the base command structure prior to publication. Shortly after is was posted on YouTube it came to the attention of the Pentagon.

“Proliferation of religion is not allowed in the Air Force or military,” wrote the chief of the Air Force News Service Division in an email obtained by Fox News. “How would an Agnostic, Atheist or Muslim serving in the military take this video?”

“I would not recommend using this at all,” the chief wrote.

In addition to his objection of the video’s repeated use of the name “God,” the chief found its opening lines objectionable.

“The choice of ‘On the Eighth day’ verbiage to begin this video is highly suggestive from the book of Genesis in the Bible and has Christian overtones,” he wrote.

Well, to be fair, it would also have Jewish overtones. That leaves Muslims, atheists, Buddhists, Hindus and all the rest. But the video was never intended to be required viewing — even by Christians and Jews.

Nonetheless, the video was removed to assure it meets military “religious neutrality” standards.

“The Air Force removed the ‘God Created a First Sergeant’ video from the official Joint Base McGuire Dix YouTube site to evaluate whether it is consistent with official Air Force guidance, to include whether it meets official guidance governing religious neutrality in the Air Force as prescribed in Air Force Instruction 1-1, Air Force Culture,” spokesperson Ann Stefanek said in a statement.

One would think the Pentagon would have loftier concerns — apparently not.

One would also think that if the Harvey original, “So God made a farmer,” was appropriate to be disseminated to the general public on last Super Bowl Sunday, the Air Force chaplain’s “So God created a First Sergeant” would work for the military.

The Air Force must have turned into wusses.

A Prayer for Our Political Leaders

Given the state of the world and the sorry condition of our beloved America, at the same time as we exercise the power of the pen by informing ourselves and others, we also need to wield an even more powerful weapon — the power of prayer.

This prayer was penned by FOTM’s reader pnordman years ago for Richard Nixon. The prayer has been published in many publications, and Patricia received a gracious thank-you note from Ronald Reagan when she had sent him a copy when he became president.

Holy Spirit, we come before You this day in humility and gratitude to plead for Your blessings upon those who govern to insure our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

Grant them in abundance Your gifts of:

     WISDOM:

that they may always be guided to place the spiritual good of communities and the nation as the highest good.

UNDERSTANDING:
that they may recognize the simplicity of truth.

COUNSEL:
that they may recognize the will of God under circumstances that discourage lesser men and women.

FORTITUDE:
that they may be given the spiritual and physical strength to accept the inevitable burdens of leadership with courageous endurance.

KNOWLEDGE:
that they may know the vastness of their mission and yet retain humility of spirit and charity for each and every soul.

PIETY:
that in the manifold duties of their offices they may always find time to communicate quietly with You and therein find peace for their souls.

FEAR OF THE LORD:
that they would forego worldly honors and recognition rather than bow to the will of evil men.

May You bless and direct our leaders for as long as it is Your will for them to guide the destiny of our nation and the world.

Haven’t you scratched your head trying to figure out why the U.S. military recently threatened to court-martial Christian service personnel just for sharing their faith with others?
