Graphic Middle School Sex Class Outrages Parents

Fox News (by Todd Starnes): Hundreds of Houston-area parents are outraged over a new sex education program that teaches 12-year-old children about oral, anal and vaginal sex – and uses graphic curriculum to instruct students on how to use condoms.

“We don’t need the school district showing the kids how to put on condoms,” said parent Christine Kalmbach. “This is very alarming.” Kalmbach’s son is a seventh grader in the Cy-Fair Independent School District, a suburb of Houston. She was one of many parents who attended a school board meeting this week to voice her concerns about the graphic sex classes.

The new curriculum is called, “It’s Your Game, Keep It Real,” a program that includes real-life scenarios about condoms. School officials did not return calls for comment – but they told parents that the program was selected because it has a proven record.

District officails told television station KTRK that the curriculum was approved by a subcommittee made up of a group of parents — and the school board unanimously approved it during summer break — when many parents and students were on vacation. School officials told local reporters that parents were given the choice of opting their children out of the sex education class. However, a copy of the permission slip sent to parents does not give them that choice.

Middle-schoolers will begin taking the class in two weeks –but parents have launched a Facebook page that they hopes will persuade the district to delay the class.

Several parents told Fox News that the information booklets provided by the school district did not indicate the graphic nature of the classroom instruction nor did it mention the level of detail. “I started looking at the curriculum and I got this sense of dread,” she said. “I thought, ‘oh my gosh, what is it that they are putting in front of our kids?’”

Kalmbach said the videos include cursing and slang. The actors are dressed provocatively. “It has heavy petting and making out – and this is the seventh grade curriculum,” she said.

Kevin Brewer has three children in middle school. He told Fox News that the material is simply not age appropriate. “It’s just not appropriate for this level of children,” he said. “All the real world examples show teens driving to their friend’s house, hanging out at homes where there are no parents present — and that’s not the reality for the vast, vast majority of kids in this age group.

He said one or two of the school board members had actually watched the videos. “This has not been vetted,” he told Fox News. “Now that parents are taking a truly active role, you have hundreds of parents expressing outrage over it.” Some of the video was so graphic that a Houston television station was unable to air footage from the curriculum, Kalmbach said.

“I think it’s soft porn when they have a girl on the couch and she says, ‘Let me help you put the condom on,’” parent Mayte Weitzman told television station KTRK. “They’re teaching them oral, anal and vaginal sex,” she said. “They’re teaching them all kinds of sex. They’re not focusing on abstinence.”

But some parents defended the new program. “We have to give them that info,” one parent told the television station. “They need to be aware as much as it may hurt us, but they need to be aware.

But Kalmbach disagrees. “Our kids see enough trash on tv,” she said. “We don’t need our school district showing this type of inappropriate behavior in a school district setting.”

“But they need to be aware”…so who decides exactly when your child needs to be aware?  Since when did it become the governments’ job to decide it was ok to teach 12-year olds about sex?

Remember, two of the 45 declared goals for the communist takeover of America:

  • Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
  • Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents.

Another reason to home school…

  1. “School officials told local reporters that parents were given the choice of opting their children out of the sex education class. However, a copy of the permission slip sent to parents does not give them that choice.”

Not only is the Houston Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District depraved, they also lie.

I’ve looked up names of school officials in charge, including the superintendent and those in charge of the Middle Schools’ curriculum & instruction. These names and contact info have all been added to the end of DCG’s post. Scroll up!

  2. This is a challenging quandary, to be sure. I’ve long been of two minds on the subject; I think many are also so divided. Many years ago in rural California I learned from a local family that their 13 yr daughter had run away from their home w/a 25 yr old drug addict; they had no idea where she was. In time she was re-united w/them, and became a fine adult.

Is it possible that if she had an early warning as this program may present [I have no idea, really, just going on what's here], she would have made a better choice? As her paramour was a drug addict she was certainly in grave danger, yet her gentle, loving family upbringing had not prepared her for this reality. Quaker children are often in the same leaky boat: are we doing enough to ensure they understand our human world is full of pits and snares?

What to do, what to do! I had all my three in a rural setting, on acreage, while I had a business that allowed them to grow in ways that were reality-based, yet very positive and optimistic. We were firm in all matters, but never used physical or mental abuse to ‘control’ them. All three are successful adults now, matured w/o the benefits of excessive TV or a surfeit of electronic trash in their formative years.

Parents face many a hard decision, to be sure: each must be made and lived out as best we can in the moment, for the many years ahead!

  3. Thank you DCG for posting this, and thanks for adding all the contact links, Dr. E. I sent it to Charlotte Iserbyt and her education activists. They’ll really pound the drum to get this story out.

My granddaughter is 14 and she told me this year they will be given a “baby” doll that they would have to care for as an infant. The baby would record everything that goes on and won’t let you leave the baby crying, etc. I think that would be the best in sex education. Showing girls just how difficult it would be to have a baby. But I really do think 12 is way to young to be showing this kind of stuff in sex ed. Loved the post.

  5. This is a perfectly good reason to have home school. The government is full of perverts and they are attempting to pervert the young children under the guise of education. It is the parents job to teach their children through materials of their own choosing. I would not be surprised if the teachers next started teaching by demonstration and I am wondering if some already have done this with another adult teacher or student. I would not be surprised if YES, has been done and students sworn to secrecy.
