A 1996 study found that 89% of Washington-based reporters said they had voted for Bill Clinton in 1992; only 7% voted for George Bush; 2% chose Ross Perot. Asked “How would you characterize your political orientation?” 61% said “liberal” or “liberal to moderate.” Only 9% identified themselves as “conservative” or “moderate to conservative.”

Ideology is something that is hard to grasp and it gets muddled up with party affiliations. The party becomes the thing that must win, and the issues are pushed to the side and the ideology is perverted to accomodate the party line. Or not as the case may be. We see ideology going down the drain and even the Constituion is not regarded as the authority governing affiliations and ideologies. It’s rather like the best china, it’s hardly ever used, mostly on ceremonial occasions. I was going to say Jesus, but now even the word God is not even being used for ceremonial gatherings it seems. The mind set that would choose Monica Lewinsky’s rabbi to come with the prayer after Bill Clinton’s speech today is not what anyone would normally think of as liberal, nor would it be constued as conservative. Both liberalism and conservatism are hard to keep track of now, because there are or were conservative dems, and liberal dems, conservative Repubs, and liberal Repubs, but now all we are looking at are the tattered flags of liberalism and conservatism flying above our two national ship’s mastheads, figuratively speaking okay? and we don’t even know if either ship is actually American. Like when oil tankers fly flags from a country that has no strict rules and regs. as to how the crew and ship must perform, yet has an American military escort making sure it has safe passage. The oligarchs want the US military to use it’s strength to force their policies on the rest of the worlds’ population and they will back both parties, both affiliations and watch the fight going on between the two knowing full well they own the both of them or will do when the lobbyists have gotten through with the bribery and corruption they deal out. The ten commandments are good place to start, and it’s worth standing up for them, reinventing the wheel isn’t necessary.
