The original Green Lantern – a DC Comics mainstay for the past 70 years – will be revealed to be a gay man in next week’s issue of “Earth 2.” Alan Scott – formerly a married father of two who first appeared in 1940 – tips readers off to his sexuality early on in the comic when he gives his boyfriend a welcome home kiss.
Is the GAY Lantern a good role model for kids?
“He’s very much the character he was. He’s still the pinnacle of bravery and idealism. He’s also gay,” “Earth 2″ writer James Robinson told The Post.
The Emerald Guardian’s sexuality was rebooted along with the rest of his fictional universe as part of DC’s “New 52″ initiative aimed at rejuvenating their characters.
Robinson said he decided to make the change because making the character young again meant erasing Scott’s gay superhero son out of existence.
“The only downside of his being young was we lose his son, Obsidian, who’s gay. So I thought, ‘Why not make Alan Scott gay?’”
(Stevie ponder.. If the idiot was Gay how did he have a Son, who just happens to be gay.)
Robinson recalled. “That was the seed that started it.”
He ran his idea by the bosses at DC, “who signed off on it without hesitation.”
Robinson, a British writer who lives in San Francisco with his wife, is no stranger to gay characters – he wrote DC’s “Starman” comic in the 1990s, a groundbreaking title that starred a homosexual superhero. He said the only agenda he’s pushing is reality.
“It’s a realistic depiction of society,” he said. “You have to move with the times.”
He said he did hope the character – who’s the most powerful member of DC’s superteam, the Justice Society – would be an inspiration.
“I hope he’s a positive figure. If there’s some kind of kid out there wh
o’s reading the comic and who’s worried about the person he is, maybe it will give him a positive sense of who he is. Or maybe a different kid will read it and decide I don’t need to bully some kind of kid in school,” Robinson said.
While a gay wedding in Archie Comics earlier this year and impending same-sex nuptials in a Marvel X-Men comic have received a small amount of backlash from angry parents, Robinson said he’s not worried about that because “that kind of negativity is stupid and outmoded.”
“We should be preaching love and tolerance,” he said.

A mother’s thoughts on DC comics turning Green Lantern gay
The American way of life, our morals, and our values are under attack and the attacks are coming from everywhere.
Today, I would like to point out how a benign comic book company has been subtly attacking our American culture.
DC comics has joined with other media outlets to attack everything we hold dear. First, it was Superman giving up his American citizenship in order to become a citizen of the universe

Once upon a time, Americans were proud to be Americans and the American way of life was the life to emulate.
We spread the message of freedom for all human beings and we showed other nations how to achieve it. American generosity, their giving to help others in need, is second to none. It isn’t just material things Americans give, we have also given our lives in order to save others.
Americans gave their lives to save the entire world from Hitler and the Nazis.
We brought down the evil empire known as the USSR. There is NO people or nation on the face of this planet which outgives America. Sure, we have our dark marks in history, every nation does. We also have so have much to proud about – the entire world has benefitted from the numerous achievements Americans have made in the roughly 250 years we have existed as a nation.
To have the greatest super hero of all time, Superman, to renounce his citizenship is sending a very powerful message that children should be ashamed of their nation.
As if Superman giving up his citizenship isn’t enough, DC comics is engaging in another attack on our children. They are promoting the gay, lesbian, and trans-gender lifestyle by turning the Green Lantern into a homosexual. Homosexuality is an aberration of nature – the behavior goes against the very laws of nature itself. A species will not survive if it doesn’t procreate.
Yet our media continues to promote this life style as normal and acceptable. It is tearing down the natural walls which exist that prevent children and young adults from experimenting with homosexuality in order to convert them to the lifestyle.
What can we, as parents, do? Contact DC Comics and let them know their behavior is unacceptable and let them know you and your children will be boycotting all their products – comic books, tee-shirts, movies, action figurines, etc.

Since homosexuals account for maybe 2 – 3% of the population, they are marketing to a minority of the population and trying to normalize homosexuality. And just like JCP, this will fail. I don’t want a homosexual agenda shoved down my throat and will avoid any business that pushes it.

Yes LL I heard about this, its slowly making its rounds across the net but the MSM has got a pretty good stranglehold keeping this silent.
I AM SO SICK OF EVERYTHING!!! Sorry for raising my voice, but until recently kids’ comic books were never about sex anyway. You just assumed that Superman and Lois Lane were heterosexual but you didn’t care because THAT’S NOT WHAT THE STORY WAS ABOUT! Now, we have to put it “out there”. It has to be somebody’s “agenda”. DC Comics has become PC Comics. I am SO SICK of every single stinkin’ thing in the entire universe being used as a political vehicle…STOP IT!!!
Marvel and DC both were making slow comebacks with X-men, Spiderman, and Thor movies. and DC with their Batman. Also On Cartoon Network Green Lantern (animated series), Young Justice, Batman the brave and the bold so they did not have to do this. This route was purely to push an agenda NOT to stay with the “times.” This crap has finally motivated me to work on my book again.
Yup. People finally stop making THOSE jokes about Batman and Robin, now this happens in the DC realm… at least they didn’t have Bruce Wayne come out like George Michael.
What i find funny is that despite what Hollywood, and the young TV crowd believe, the youth of today still don’t give a rat’s backside about the gay agenda. This so called “reinvented” Green Lantern will show brisk but brief sales only for the “I got this issue first factor” and nothing more. Trust me I been collecting comics for a long time (back in the day) I know the routine. Just like when they knocked off Superman DC milked it by expanding that series over multiple crossovers. We cared for a while then DC revenues tanked again and life moved on.

There’s a lot of truth in what you say there sage. If Obummer’s voted out, we should rejoice for all of a day. Then the real work will begin. What most people don’t realize is that there actually is one political party. The bickering that we’re fed daily by the media is by and large a puppet show. The pretense keeps the sheeple from overthrowing the buggers.
If they really wanted to cause a stir they should have made the Green Lantern a conservative Bible Belt capitalist…Ooooh!! The outrage!!

Heard about this a few days ago and just thought this really isn’t original or groundbreaking at all, since Ace and Gary, “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” are really the first superheroes of the “homosphere.”
Why is Superman denouncing his American citizenship in order to protect everyone a bad thing? If anything I’d say that amazing christian-like stance, sacrifice in order to help others.

Jimmy, I suggest you look up New World Order and One World Government. As Steve explained, Super Man had always looked out for not just America, but the entire world. There’s no need to strip him of his American identity. This move by DC Comics is just one more effort to homogenize (i.e., de-nationalize) America, so as to make a One World Government not just palatable, but desirable.
