SANFORD, Fla. — A judge on Friday revoked the bond of the neighborhood watch volunteer charged with killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and ordered him returned to jail within 48 hours.
Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester said that George Zimmerman and his wife, Shellie, misled the court about how much money they had available when his bond was set for $150,000 in April. Prosecutors claim Zimmerman had $135,000 available that had been raised by a website he set up.
Zimmerman’s wife testified at the bond hearing that they had limited funds available since she was a nursing student and Zimmerman wasn’t working.
“He can’t sit back and obtain the benefit of a lower bond based upon those material falsehoods,” Lester said.
Defense attorney Mark O’Mara said the fact that Zimmerman and his wife never used the money for anything indicated “there was no deceit.”
Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda described the Zimmermans’ testimony as “misleading.”
“This court was led to believe they didn’t have a single penny,” said De la Rionda. “It was misleading and I don’t know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie.”
Prosecutors also said Zimmerman had failed to surrender a second passport, but the judge dismissed that concern as the equivalent of someone who has lost a driver’s license, applies for a new one and then finds the old driver’s license.
Zimmerman is pleading not guilty to second-degree murder and claims self-defense. Zimmerman shot Martin in February during a confrontation at a gated community of townhouses in Sanford, Fla., where Zimmerman lived and where Martin was visiting his father’s fiancee.

  1. We’ve only just begun seeing the travesties of justice to come out of Florida v. Zimmerman

  2. Isn’t it the duty of the prosecution to investigate and know as much as humanly possible about the defendant, including financial information? Sounds like the prosecution bungled that! Like the initial affidavit and charges of second degree murder.

  3. Eyes Wide Open

No matter what, the feds will charge Z with a hate crime. Our fine government is going to make sure he does time. If it hits the fan, that may be all it takes for Obama to declare martial law.

    • ‘Fraid so, apparently it was “racist” to not get beaten to death by a violent pothead.

      • Ah, “Robo” (Robitussin) drinkers… future junkies of America– they were all over in junior high. It was fun listening to ‘em explain “My mom made me take a whole bunch of Rob’tussin before she sent me to school ” when they got caught buzzed in class.

  4. I don’t know if zimmerman is innocent or guilty. I wasn’t there. from what i’ve read and read and read about the case, he followed the kid. If the kid fought him it may have been because he himself felt threatened and was scared and that could have been self defense. zimmerman could have just shot him in the leg instead of shooting him in the heart. pot heads are not violent. they are more likely prone to lazy than fighting or running or causing commotions. there were “trace” amounts of pot found in trayvon’s blood at autopsy. pot stays in the blood for 30 days and will test positive. i’m not saying zimmerman is guilty or innocent. i’m saying it was NOT completely trayvon’s fault. they were equally at fault.

  5. Steve, i did see this post, it stated that he was found doing the cough syrup thing and his face book or e-mails were from 2011 or was it 2010? a lot can change in that amount of time. i did not say trayvon was innocent either. All i’m saying is that he’s dead and there’s no reason for people to call him a “violent pothead”. from what i’ve read there was no other drugs found in his system during the autopsy, a “trace” amount of marijuana. pot tests positive for up to 30 days. I believe they were both guilty of certain facts. and again pot heads generally aren’t violent.

  6. oh, and i would have been acting strange if someone was following me too.

  7. Steve, I can’t go along with the railroad job either, it just seems like everyone is placing all the blame on Trayvon. I definitely don’t think it’s right to revoke the bail. and yeah, it’s tragic. by the way, in my pot smoking days, i would have never made it to the store, more like out of it in corner somewhere wondering where the store was. lol. God bless.

  8. With all the trouble Zimmerman was already in, why would he and his wife try to hide this money and take this chance? Zimmerman has made some dumb decisions in this case. First one, following Trayvon.

  9. If I were Zimmerman’s attorney, I’d be screaming for a change of venue, as there is no way his client is going to get a fair trail anywhere in the northern hemisphere.

    • The jury pool has been sufficiently poisoned. Even if it hadn’t, with ignorance of the law run amok, I wouldn’t trust my life with twelve of my peers in today’s world! People are idiots.

      • I wonder where they draw jurors from… I’ve been a registered voter (R as you state your party in my state) for 25+ years and have never been called up for jury duty. Coincidence or party-related?

        • I would say definitely party related! They can’t afford to have anyone go screwin things up with righteous, moral judgment. Remember, when they shut down all the Chevy dealers, it was later found out that the ones shut down were heavily Republican owned. You know, they weren’t goin to toe the union line, so they were axed!

  10. i’ve been asked (too often ) what my bank balance was…
.before or after the check payments are taken out ?
or before or after an anticipated is deposited but not cleared ?

One would hesitate to ask which set of books or if it include
    the stuff squirreled away…

  11. Bama, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and Jessie Jr, John Lewis, Hank Johnson, Maxine Waters how in the HELL is the boy going to get a fair trial, But I don’t hear a damn thing about the killings going on in all the cities all over the country where blacks are killing blacks. Not a one of these worthless basdtards will open their mouth about the black on black crime, and we all know they are hate crimes, one gang hating the other! I am sick of the BROKEN Judicial System, where Judges go by popularity and NOT by TRUTH, because most judges, like cops, wouldn’t know the truth unless Dollar Signs were attached to it! Semper Fi.

    • And there was recently a reverse of the same crime happen out in AZ. I believe, where a black man shot an unarmed Hispanic guy in a drive through at a taco bell, and the black guy claimed the Hispanic had a weapon, which has never been found. And the Hispanic guy was autistic or lightly retarded. The black guy still has not been charged with anything. Its Trayvon and Zimmerman in reverse. And the Main stream media is dead silent on that story, but if Zimmerman passes wind, CNN, MSNBC, DAILY KOS, MEDIA MATTERS, are all shouting it from the roof tops.

  12. steve seeing as you are near the center of this shit storm maybe you ought to consider wearing a vest (bullet proof) along with a conceal carry permit.. not many slack jawed thugs shoot well enough for head shots and some of the newer vests are not nearly as bulky as they used to be.
