If a “right-winger” were to plead guilty to making death threats against some liberal politician, it would be all over the news. But let a pro-Obama “progressive” hater plead guilty to threatening to kill Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, all you get from the MSM is SILENCE.
MyFoxPhoenix reports, March 14, 2012, that 33-year-old Adam Eugene Cox of Knoxville, Tennessee, described as a Barack Obama “fanatic,” appeared in a Tennessee courtroom on Wednesday and pled guilty to death threats against Arpaio and his family.
Cox was the “anonymous” person who left numerous online comments last October (2011), at the ObamaReleaseYourRecords site , threatening to kill various individuals who have pursued the Obama eligibility matter. One comment was directed at Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his family:
“I plan to kill Joe Arpaio first.. He will be filled with a thousand bullet holes before the year is out., I promise you this. He won’t fuck with Obama. He will be buried 10 feet under and his whole family will be murdered along with him. Don’t like it? Come stop me. Come die before me.”
Cox will not go to jail. He was sentenced to supervised probation.
Fellowship of the Minds (FOTM) has had our share of death threats, the most recent one from a commenter who calls her/himself “Laura“.
Our most dogged death-threater is an individual who first came to our attention as “LetsKillBirthers” when he threatened to kill conservatives who question Obama’s eligibility. We have reported his name, aliases, and IP addresses to the police. Since he has used, by my count, at least 25 aliases on FOTM, I’ve dubbed him “Legion.”
Legion also made a death threat against Sheriff Arpaio, about which I promptly notified the sheriff.
Come to think of it, some of the IP addresses Legion had used are in Knoxville, Tennessee! Police arrested Adam Eugene Cox on January 27, 2012, in Phoenix, AZ. Coincidentally, FOTM’s death-threater Legion’s last appearance on FOTM was January 1, 2012, as “Tom Franks”.

That guy had better repent. He is beholding the war lord mentality of Obama being turned into his likeness. He is a thousand times worse than Peter that swung a sword. If he values his soul he had better recant all that he said, and mean it.
When a society loses its ability to remain civil and allow for peaceful, discourse when differences of opinions arise, then violence and hate rule and we are all doomed.
We are in a critical point in our history. I do not blame the President for this because the hate preceded him and did not come from him. We are a greedy people and not as tolerant of eachother as we should be. Perhaps if the schools taught the ethics of Hillel, the philosophy of Maimonides, and the tolerance of Jesus, we might have a chance. Unfortunately, I fear the arrow has already left the bow and where it lands remains to be seen.
Of course, the hate preceded Obama, but you absolve him of all blame? Why is that? This is the Obama who fueled the rush-to-judgment against George Zimmerman by saying about Trayvon: “If I had a son, he’d look just like him.”
By spreading the blame around to EVERYONE, you’ve muddied up your vision and so see “through a glass, darkly.”

Furthermore, by spreading the blame to EVERYONE, you’ve removed the blame from the person who is the subject of this post: Adam Cox, who was arrested, found guilty, and now serving a sentence for making death threats to Sheriff Arpaio.
I am not Adam Cox. I did not make death threats against Arpaio or anyone else. I am not the evil trolls like “Legion” who come on FOTM and make death threats against conservatives and “birthers”.
You are shifting the focus from Adam Cox. It is Adam Cox who’s doing the “hating”. And it is Adam Cox who is responsible for his deeds — not Bush, not Eowyn, not FOTM, not Conservatives.
Finally, stop portraying Jesus the Christ as “tolerant”. Jesus is not a wimp. He was not “tolerant” of the moneychangers in the Temple; He was not “tolerant” of the hypocritical Pharisees; He was not “tolerant” of “the lukewarm” — people (like you!) who will not take a firm stand against wrong and evil. He warned us that, like a sword, He would divide child from parent. Does that sound “tolerant” to you? In fact, the Second Person became incarnate so that He can suffer and die to expiate our sins. That’s how “tolerant” He is of evil and of sin!
You are confusing “tolerance” with Love. Jesus loves us so much He suffered and died for us. But He also is Truth. To really Love is to able to tell the Truth. Love is Truth; Truth is Love. Truth does not “tolerate” falsity. There is no place for “tolerance” in Truth.
Tell that to the Occutard commie crowds. Or Sharpton. Or Jackson. Or Skippy. Or the liberals on Twitter that automatically block & report spam on conservatives to silence them.
Tolerance? Tell that to the Muslims that kill Christians for simply being Christian.
Why is it that out of my entire statement you focused on one sentence? The rush to judgement about Trayvon was fueled by the media morons who wouldn’t stop convicting him 24×7. Obama stated an opinion and he is entitled to it. Hate is just as prevalent on the right. Obama hadn’t even taken the oath and the hate started. I am not siding with the guy, I just don’t hate him either.
Stop putting words in my mouth. Hard as it is for you to believe, I don’t “HATE” Obama or anyone on the Left (or Right). I OBJECT to Obama’s economic policy that’s bankrupting this country, his political policy that’s creating a frightening police state (see NDAA and his martial law executive order), his social policy (gay marriage, abortion) that’s tearing Americans apart, and his continuing concealment of his birth, college, and other records and documents which is an insult to the American people and the Constitution.

Furthermore, Nelson Rose, you are engaging in a material fallacy, by taking the emphasis away on the real issues here, about the behavior of MR. COX. In my opinion, you are trying to justify his behavior which cannot be justified! Do not use Our Lord, Jesus, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, in your negotiations with evil!

Just curious. If one rationally reads my initial comment, how can it be assumed that I was defending the psychotic actions of this guy Cox?? His actions are a glaring example of what I was talking about to begin with. For whatever reason you people assumed that just because I don’t hate the President or blame him for everything that I somehow support him or everything he does. I am a veteran and a patriot and that being said I will never spout off hatefully when it comes to the President or anyone else in our governemnt. When I disagree with something I will state my “opinion” about it, but not use some blanket statement as to their motives or character. Judging people is not in my nature. I didn’t put words in anyone’s mouth. I merely made an open statement about the dangerous levels of intolerance we have in this country. How that came across as me defending this Shmuck Cox is beyond me.

To Dr. E and Grouchy – You guys seriously misunderstood me. This Cox guy is a dirt bag – there is no denying that. My comment was merely an expression of my opinion that this kind of nonsense is becoming more and more common in our country. Both sides are equally gulity of it and if you think I am watering it down – ask Gabbie Giffords. Regardless of where you stand politically, I doubt either of you feel she deserved a bullet in the head did she? I mean no offense to any of you and if what I said offend you then I apologize. Like I said I was just expressing what I believe is a valid point. I am an Army Veteran – I served this country too. I don’t like what’s happening. I am not just talking about Obama, I am talking about the walls everyone seems to be building. Republicans want to shoot everything down that a Democrat proposes and the Democrats want to shoot down everything a Republican proposes. This is exactly the non-productive divisiveness that Jefferson warned about so many years ago. We have lost our way and we will never get anywhere if we can’t allow people to have their own opinions and engage in civil discourse even when we don’t agree.

Dr. E. I am a Mason for a number of reasons. Mostly because after leaving the military there was a comradiere void that I deeply needed to fill. Contrary to a lot of public myths, Masonry is not a cult or an anti-christian organization. We aren’t a New World Order, which to me is the funniest of accusations because we can barely organize a BBQ. It is not a religion either. Anyone who claims it is really doesn’t know anything about it. It’s pretty much a fraternity with some deep philosophical roots. The description “A moral institution veiled in allegory and illustrated with symbols” simply put just means we use the Bronze Age method of teaching moral truths – we tell stories (or parables) and use symbols. The beef that the big churches have are over the stance that we require belief in Deity and that the choice is up to the individual who they believe in. So we have Jewish, Christian, Muslims, and Deists, and others amongst the membership. When you have multiple faiths like that and you require all men to act in a moral way and be held accountable to God, an invocation, or prayer, is required when we open and close our meetings. In order to not offend the Jew or Muslim by invoking then name of Jesus, or offend the Jew and Christian by invoking the name – Allah, or confuse the heck out of the Christians and Muslims by saying HaShem – we simply say Grand Architect. Its not a made up God, it is just a univeral name that is used because as Masons we consider eachother as equals and builders of an allegorical temple of human morality and brotherly love. Just as builders get their directions from a blueprint (or Bible) and the designer (or author) of that blueprint is the Grand Architect (or God).
To me, as well as other Masons who actually study the philosopy and theology behind the fraternity – religion is not what the public perceives it to be. Religion actually has a Biblical defintion – “Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:26-27
I hope this answered your question and perhaps cleared up some false impressions you may have of us. We actually have some great guys amongst our ranks. Guys like – George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Hancock, Paul Revere, FDR, Harry Truman, Gen. McArthur, Samuel Clemmens (Mark Twain), John Wayne, Dave Thomas, Walt Disney… I could go on but, that should give you an idea of the type of organization we are.
