This morning my sister called to suggest taking my mother on an outing this afternoon, the last gloriously sunny day before the next rainstorm rolls in tomorrow. We headed north to Skagit County, a bountiful farming area north of Seattle, bordered on the east by the foothills of the Cascade mountains and on the west by Puget Sound. Driving through the tiny farm community of Conway, we noticed cars pulled off to the side of the road for no apparent reason— then we saw this:
When we got back home my sister did some research and found what we saw is an annual event, the migration pattern of 50,000 snow geese! Here’s an amazing video published by the Seattle Times last year.
More dramatic still photos and information about these beautiful creatures are here.

LTG!
I LOVE those snow geese, please repost with the picture/video…..
thanks : )
Beautiful!
Incredible! Wow…
The Skagit Valley holds the distinction of growing tulips, the most abundant in the world, greater than even the Netherlands. Now the mystery of the tremendously fertile valley is solved. The entire month of April is devoted to the Tulip Festival. Galleries of the flowers are here.

What an amazing sight that must have been, Grannie! I would have loved to be there….
Here on the Eastern shore of Md. we are also in the migration path of snow geese . They are magnificent. I’ve seen soy bean fields covered with geese though I do not think the flocks were as large as the one depicted. I have to say however that this year has been quiet and I haven’t seen the large flocks nor heard them flying over. There have been some small groups but I haven’t seen any large ones.
I took some photos but none are as clear as your video clips. Thanks.

“All fowls of heaven made their nests in His boughs, and under His branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under His shadow dwelt all great nations.” Ezekiel 31:6
Thank you, Grannie.
