Sigh. . . not surprising, but it is dismaying. Pop-culture preacher Joel Osteen has given his approval of President Obama’s dubious Christianity.
Televangelist and senior pastor of Houston’s Lakewood Church Joel Osteen explained on Fox News Channel’s “Huckabee” over the weekend that President Barack Obama reached out to Osteen and Lakewood.
“He has reached out to us,” Osteen said. “And we have done some of the leadership things there at the White House with him and been able to pray with him — just simple things like that. And he’s been very kind and friendly to our ministry.”
A number of Americans still have questions about Obama’s religious beliefs. Whether it is due to his 20 year attendance at the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church, polls indicating that 12 percent of Americans still believe that he is a Muslim, or the first family’s decision to not regularly attend church, the president’s Christian faith has not been an easy issue for the White House.
Earlier in the segment, host Mike Huckabee delved into Osteen’s thoughts on if Obama should attend church more regularly. Osteen was forgiving.
“You know I think it would be great. You know, I am probably too full of mercy and to say, you know, maybe all the things that come with the presidency, the security and all that — maybe that plays into it,” Osteen said. “But I believe he loves the Lord and things. I don’t know. But in the ideal world, yes [he would attend regularly].”

What things? Which Lord? How can a president who omits Jesus Christ from every speech, including the most recent Thanksgiving address, be possibly considered a Christian?
The Christ that is the focus here is not Jesus Christ – it is the “Cosmic Christ.”
In esoteric schools of thought, the Christ is considered to be a universal spirit or a cosmic force. The primary goal of this impersonal spirit or force is to guide the spiritual evolution of mankind.
So, if Christ is a “universal spirit or a force,” who then, is “Jesus”? -

Televangelists need to be kept at arms length and every word proceeding from their mouths requires the utmost scrutiny. I consider all of them to be false teachers.
Billy Graham started something that has robbed the old people blind, and the TV Preachers aren’t letting up, they are worse than the IRS. Because they do it in with a straight face! They are good enough salesmen and women to sell aluminum siding to people that have brick homes, and then run off to their mansions and count their blessings! Semper Fi.
Vic, I’m not a huge fan of the Grahams, but Franklin Graham has not been any kind of support for Obama. Just the opposite.

Here’s where, I think, “O”steen falls apart: “But in the ideal world, yes [he would attend regularly].”. Dear Joel: This is the REAL world and we worship on account of our common faith in Jesus Christ, wanting to assemble with the body of Christ, finding strength and support in doing so. If the President has no time for worshiping Jesus Christ, because he is “too busy” or its “too political”, then I strongly question his beliefs, especially in light of his self-serving psychodynamics. You cannot serve two masters.
