I thought we already had one, called the World Bank, and another one called the IMF – but what do I know? And my second question – who would be in charge of this monstrosity?
Vatican Calls for Central World Bank

The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a “global public authority” and a “central world bank” to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises. The document from the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department should please the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn.
“Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary Systems in the Context of a Global Public Authority,” was at times very specific, calling, for example, for taxation measures on financial transactions. “The economic and financial crisis which the world is going through calls everyone, individuals and peoples, to examine in depth the principles and the cultural and moral values at the basis of social coexistence,” it said.
It condemned what it called “the idolatry of the market” as well as a “neo-liberal thinking” that it said looked exclusively at technical solutions to economic problems. “In fact, the crisis has revealed behaviours like selfishness, collective greed and hoarding of goods on a great scale,” it said, adding that world economics needed an “ethic of solidarity” among rich and poor nations.
“If no solutions are found to the various forms of injustice, the negative effects that will follow on the social, political and economic level will be destined to create a climate of growing hostility and even violence, and ultimately undermine the very foundations of democratic institutions, even the ones considered most solid,” it said.
It called for the establishment of “a supranational authority” with worldwide scope and “universal jurisdiction” to guide economic policies and decisions.
Asked at a news conference if the document could become a manifesto for the movement of the “indignant ones”, who have criticised global economic policies, Cardinal Peter Turkson, head of the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department, said: “The people on Wall Street need to sit down and go through a process of discernment and see whether their role managing the finances of the world is actually serving the interests of humanity and the common good. “We are calling for all these bodies and organisations to sit down and do a little bit of re-thinking.”

Sage-I have been waiting since this morning to get your take on this. I am not happy with it.
Well Tina, You know my position on Bible prophecy. Anything I say is bound to push someone’s buttons. I am not Catholic or Protestant – I just believe in the Word of God. If you read the whole article – you saw that the Vatican wants the UN to initially run this “central banking authority.” And, I believe, that the anti-Christ will be at the head of the UN, or some permutation of it. He may already be there – lurking in a minor position.
This would, effectively, give anti-Christ control over the economies of the entire world. The central banks are popping up all over the “Arab Spring” nations – so they are now in the fold. And as you state so clearly – there is nothing to be happy about here.
I think with this bold statement today, some people need their buttons pushed and their eyes opened.
I stand on the same ideals, Sage…. and no, this isn’t good at all…
I am Catholic. My faith is very important to me. The Pope’s statement today infuriates me. I believe in the infallibility of the Pope when it comes to spiritual matters but question his authority on banking. Sage’s statement about the AntiChrist is certainly thought provoking. PRAY!!!!!
Ditto. How does he got from the Holy Trinity to this?
Didn’t Christ kick the money lenders out of the temple?
They are still pushing their dead monetarist banking system which is a dead as a dodo. When Jesus said “It is finished” he was not kidding. If we are not to be finished too, we need to go back to the Credit System that was put into words by Alexander Hamilton in the US Constitution. Specifically in Article 1 Section 8. We certainly are ready for a new heaven and a new earth, and as for waitng around for the horrors that our Adminstration is cooking up we can keep on pressing towards the mark of the high calling.
God says in his word that the days will be shortened and that’s good news.
Just around the corner is “Behold I will do a new thing”. Like David we must encourage ourselves. Come on church~j
I am Southern Baptist (sometimes), and even though I have a lot of Catholic friends, I must confess that I am not a little ignorant when it comes to certain things regarding Catholicism.
Pardon me, but in the Papal line of succession, isn’t the next Pope supposed to be a real booger – not to mention the last one?
After all, according to what I have been taught concerning Biblical prophecy, we are getting very close to the end of man’s rule, as the clock started ticking for-real in 1948 (as that was when the Israelis reclaimed their homeland for the third and final time), and within one generation of that year (depending on the calendar you are looking at), man’s rule will end – but not before the “Big One” takes place.
And given Obama’s recent acts of ridding the ME of moderate Arab leaders just at the right time, well…
Hmm.
See, I did actually stay awake in school occasionally.

Just a thought to provoke everyone,,,
George Soros and his buddy down in Mexico are both very wealthy men,,,
George, however, is a “False Jew”,,, he collaborated with the Nazi’s in WW II, and is currently a major player in politics, religion, banking and is a driving force behind the sitting president of the United States,,,
I have heard and even did a little research on the question of ” George Soros Anti-Christ “,,, The results are very,,, ,,, intriguing, to say the least~!
Just sayin’
Possible, yes grouchy. But I don’t see the repellent Mr. Soros having the necessary charisma to capture the “elect.” By and large, everyone hates him.
I am not Catholic; but, one of my dear Catholic friends signed me up for the newsletters of Dr. Robert Moynihan, the editor of “Inside the Vatican” magazine. The issue I received in my email today clarifies this issue.
THE VATICAN SAID WHAT?
The important piece of news out of Rome today is that the Vatican has allegedly called for a “central world bank” in reponse to the continuing speculation and instability in the world financial system.
I say “allegedly” because the text in which this call appears is not by Pope Benedict, but by a Vatican office, the Council for Justice and Peace. Such an office can issue papers which do not bear the Pope’s “seal of approval” in the same way that a papal encyclical would.
We are dealing here, then, with something on the order of a “position paper,” not a text containing authoritative magisterial teaching.
It is a serious document, worth weighing with real attention — and this is why I include the complete text below — but not a document with binding doctrinal authority.
Nevertheless, after the Vatican released the document at a press conference this morning, the internet was abuzz with reports like the following one from Reuters, suggesting that this document’s call for some controls over global financial speculation links the Vatican ideologically to the US protest movement “Occupy Wall Street” (!!!).
That’s a bit of a stretch.
Here are selections from the Reuters article:
Vatican Calls for ‘Central World Bank’ to Be Set Up
Published: Monday, 24 Oct 2011 | 6:54 AM ET
“…Cardinal Peter Turkson, head of the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department, said: ‘The people on Wall Street need to sit down and go through a process of discernment and see whether their role managing the finances of the world is actually serving the interests of humanity and the common good.’ “ How is this a bad idea?
From the POV of a position paper, I cannot see harm in this statement of intent. If anything, it’s about a century overdue, especially on the issue of usury [interest], which the RC Church once ruled on absolutely as forbidden.
Good ideas are just good ideas. Solutions, and ones based on proven historical precedence and on scientific data that would support the suggested solution are few and far between. Anything that would help save the planet from worldwide extinction of mankind right about now from what I read can only be based upon the mandates of the US Constitution, and the careful, scientific interpretation of the principles set forth by Alexander Hamilton, especially economic values.
If the cardinal you mention is a scholar well versed in the matter of the US Constitution, and aware of the history of what has happened in the economy realm when the principles of this document have been violated, then his good idea isn’t backed up with very much except criticism of the way things are being handled by basically the greedy Rothschild clan and the Bank of England and our FED egged on by President Obama’[s Administration.
We need real solutions, and one’s that will uplife mankind and increase the standard of living worldwide and deal with the onset of intense radiation etc coming from the Galaxy owing to the position of our solar system in the Universe.
It’s a huge step we have to take, a big stretch, are we moraly strong enough, do we have have courage and faith enough to walk by faith not by sight?
I am a Roman Catholic and I, too, am furious about this folly of a proposal issued in the name of Pope Benedict 16th. Although the document is slightly more nuanced than Reuters’ report, in the end, the Vatican still is calling for the creation of a “supranational global political Authority” (note the capital letter A) to coordinate and deal with what the Vatican sees as the excesses of “economic liberalism” (translation: free market) and the world’s rampant & unethical “materialism”.
Yeah, as if we don’t already have a “supranational global” entity. It’s called the United Nations — and how well is that working? The same UN, whose IPCC (the world’s chief Global Warming institution) again and again has been caught issuing unsubstantiated and downright fraudulent claims about “climate change.” The same UN that is overrun with New Age occult mumbo-jumbo (see my 4-part series on the UN here).
You’d think the Vatican would know better, given its own doctrine about Original Sin — that we human beings are all born with concupiscence. Fomes peccati — we are born, tinderboxes of sin. And that includes the Pope, the Vatican, governments, and the leaders and staff of any “supranational political Authority.”

I know John Paul II didn’t like the “Authority” that was the Communist bloc… how’s the UN– progessively secular, expansive and seeking to control everything for the collective good supposedly, as well– any better religiously? Because they’re poorly organized?
Talk about shake hands with the devil…
Okay okay. However, if we were to form a treaty that is the USA with two other heavy duty sovreign nations such as Russia and China, and shut down the present monetarist system by passing the reinstatement of Glass Steagall, THE RETURN TO PRUDENT BANKING ACT HR 1489 introduced by Marcy Kaptur D Ohio, and then having separated out the toxic debts, all illigitimate debt, proceed to utter Credit through Congress according to Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution, for projects that will restore the real economy here in the US such as NAWAPA which you can check out by Googling it, and through the treaties with Russia and China have Credit issued under the umbrella of our Constitution for those two nations to fund similar projects, which in fact are already underway, they just signed over 25 agreements into existence for wonderful ideas to go into construction, all about progress and increasing energy flux density without which mankind will go extinct. Any deal that is struck that promotes the empirical monetarist system will have death, mass genocide as it’s intention. Life can only be promoted for generations to come by adhering to the Hamiltonian principles that are the building blocks fo mans future on earth and later on , in the Galaxy.
God says there will be a new heaven and a new earth, how can that be if we don’t step up to the plate, we have to work alongside our Creator to bring this to pass, we weren’t created in his image just to watch it unfold on cable we are meant to put our shoulder to the plough and not look back.
Postscript. I forgot to mention that all sovreign nations would be able to sign up to the terms of the treaty between the USA Russia and China once the terms are in place, involving too many other nations at the start would cause too much talk and it’s clear that Russia and China are on the same track as most Americans, they want to raise the standard of living, they are not interested in fascism, austerity, or the New World Order, they stick to SOVREIGNTY. The fly in the ointment is the Obama Administration, they say that the Volcher way is the way then they rush back to the WH and hide and let the chips fall as they may, which is total chaos.
The reinstatement of Glass Steagall would stop the monetarists in their tracks. Many EU countries would like to be sovreign nations once more, and this way different cultures and languages and cuisine and literature would continue to flourish because there would be an accompaying freedom. The Hamiltonian Credit System of our Constitution is about being free, not from responsibility, but free from tyranny.
Has anyone read the Russian Sunrise …very interesting
