Caught in the Land of Oz

Lion, Tin Man, Toto, Dorothy, Scarecrow

The Wizard of Oz is a much-loved 1939 MGM film based on the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

A box office failure when it was first released, MGM did recoup its losses with subsequent re-releases. Often ranked among the top ten best movies of all-time in various critics’ and popular polls, The Wizard of Oz is the most watched motion picture in history according to the Library of Congress.

The film features:

  • Judy Garland as Kansas farm girl Dorothy
  • Ray Bolger as the brain-less Scarecrow
  • Jack Haley as the heart-less Tin Man
  • Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion
  • Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West
  • Frank Morgan as the Wizard
  • and Terry the Dog as Toto.

Dorothy is 72 years old.

Today, if Dorothy were to encounter men with no brains, no hearts, and no courage, she wouldn’t be in Oz. She’d be in Congress.

And you and I know fully well who’s the Wicked Witch of the West.  ;)

Good grief. She is "of the West" coast!

One guess who’s the fraudulent Wizard behind the curtain!

Toto lifts the curtain exposing the phony Wizard

Hmmm, doesn’t that make us Toto? LOL

Long Live Toto!!!

Can we wake up now from our nightmare?

  1. Golly, I thought Toto was LIFTING his leg on the curtain!

  2. My favorite line from that movie is – “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.”
