A great movie star and patriot gets a fitting tribute…finally!
73-year-old Jane Fonda is coming out with a new fitness DVD. Remember her workout videos in the 1980s? The first one sold 17 million copies! She’s also bravely admitted to having had breast implants and being bulimic in the past, and as recently as September 9, 2010, to removing the bags under her eyes and getting “some work done on her chin and neck.”
A radical political activist, Fonda supported the Black Panthers in the early 1970s, stating “Revolution is an act of love; we are the children of revolution, born to be rebels. It runs in our blood.” She called the Black Panthers “our revolutionary vanguard”, and said “we must support them with love, money, propaganda and risk.”
Fonda is most famous for her visit to North Vietnam during the Vietnam War in July 1972. During her trip Fonda made 10 propaganda radio broadcasts in which she denounced American political and military leaders as “war criminals.” She posed for a picture seated at an anti-aircraft battery that undoubtedly had been used by the Viet Congs to shoot down American warplanes. Not being fools, the Viet Congs promptly used the photo to great effect as anti-U.S. propaganda.
After more than 40 years the Vietnam Veterans of the United States of America raised a phenomenal amount of money to erect a touching memorial to Hanoi Jane. I get teary eyed when I see this….
(Also, read HERE about Hanoi Jane saying how Sarah Palin “worries” her!)
