Sometimes we need an escape from politics, no matter how brief the escape. So here’s a post in the category of “going down the rabbit hole.”
Ready?
Here we go….
Crop circles are an interesting phenomenon and a subject of controversy and passionate debate.
A crop circle is a sizable pattern created by the flattening of a crop such as wheat, barley, rye, maize, or rapeseed. Some crop patterns are astonishingly complex and depict stereotypical extraterrestrials, fractals, and archaeological, religious, or mythological symbols, such as these:
“Most of the observed patterns have been revealed to be products of deception, artistic expression, and business or tourism interests. Some cases have been examined by researchers via the scientific method and clearly show that something beyond men with boards is causing abnormalities in the plants within the formations. Such abnormalities include enlargement of cell wall pits, enlarged (both laterally and longitudinally) plant stem nodes, expulsion cavities (holes blown out at one or several of the plant stem nodes), hematite and magnetite contamination and various magnetic anomalies.”
Nor are crop circles a modern phenomenon, judging by this 1678 pamphlet on the “Mowing Devil” of Hartfordshire:
On July 30, 2010, two crop circles depicting the face of Jesus Christ were reported to have appeared on either side of the M4 near Hungerford, Berkshire, in southeast England.
The two images, both 250 feet in diameter, were formed in crops of wheat. The almost identical circles seem to portray Jesus in similar fashion to the Shroud of Turin.

This is absolutely fascinating. Thank you, Eowyn, for this most interesting communication. I am amazed they are so precise and perfect!
Amen! Well said, Joan, great article Eowyn! Come Lord Jesus, come! A great sign of Faith alive in a nation, who’s government has regrettably bowed down to Islam. I pray for The Church there and in all of Europe for spititual renewal, and for their blessings upon Israel.
I’d love to meet the person or people who did this! Wow!
I had meant to thank you for your excellent comment on the “Sears Is Selling Porn” thread but was distracted by a “fire” to put out.
A warm and enthusiastic welcome to our Fellowship, David!
You’re most welcome, and thank you for a very informative, well-grounded site. Glad to be part. Our lives, as disciples of Christ, are all about putting out “fires,” because we are prepared. The best part of my day includes dealing with whatever the Lord throws my way, in accordance to His will, but also, the starting of “fires” (spiritual, that is) opening hearts and minds of those who seek more than this world offers, the promise of Salvation and Eternal Life through Jesus. My personal feeling is that His return will happen in my lifetime, as I witness prophecy unfolding[quickly]. All part of a plan designed long ago, certainly not what I expected or hoped for the USA, but not surpising considering Satan’s power over those who turn their backs on the true and living God.
I do get caught up in the anger and frustration of what’s happening to our country, our world, however, I’m also reminded that I’m first a citizen of heaven eternal, a child of the Almighty God, who has everything under control. A plan I trust. A will I trust. A promise I trust.
Praise God!
I pray you all a peaceful and joyful sabbath.
I spent 30 years in the land surveying bizz, and could reproduce that stuff in my sleep.
The only tricky part is getting non-lazy people with at least a modicum of linear logic to help you out.

I’m not sure why crop circles garner so much attention. They have been proven man made. I think I believe in aliens and the cover-up, but I don’t think they are coming here to make crop circles. I appreciate the artistic talent involved but lets move on, nothing to see here.
micro,
Did you read the Wikipedia excerpt I included in my post? Yes, some crop circles are man-made, but there are other crop circles wherein changes/abnormalities to the plants (wheat, rye, etc.), as well as hematite and magnetite contamination and various magnetic anomalies are difficult to explain. This is not to say they’re not man-made; just that I wouldn’t be as facile as you and Dave in summarily dismissing all crop circles as being frauds.
I will make an admission here, that I look into this alot. i’m somewhat fascinated by this topic. As we’ve discussed before I am searching for what is going on. Aliens are on the list, I think they are here. i don’t think they are making crop circles. I am however aware of what you are saying, there have been documented changes in the stalk of some plants in some crop circles. I’m not sure these findings have ever been published in a peer reviewed journal. If you are bringing this up, you too believe in aliens. It could quite be possible they are made by aliens, I just think they have better things to do than that. However, who knows, the truth is stranger than fiction, if it proves to be so, it wouldn’t surprise or shock me in the least.
micro,
I neither believe nor disbelieve in the existence of non-homo sapiens intelligent life in the universe. Certainly with the unimaginable VASTNESS of the universe (or perhaps multiverses), one cannot dismiss that existence. How can we? To confidently dismiss the possibility that something exists (or to assert that there is no ___, e.g., ETs or God) would require that one has seen EVERYTHING in the universe, which of course no one has and no one can. That is the main reason why atheism (“There is no God”), not agnosticism (“I’m uncertain that God exists or that a particular religion’s understanding of God is true”) is a logically indefensible position.
Having said that, I have no idea if ETs made some of those crop circles. I agree with you, that would be a strange reason for the huge expense and effort to come to earth — to make enigmatic crop circles! Unless of course ETs or, my preferred explanation, angels are mischievous and have a playful sense of humor.
Eowyn, fascinating you brought up angels and fallen angels, I have recently started looking into this as well, it kind of scares me and kinda makes sense given the heavy documentation of this in the sacred books. It may well be that, religion is really starting to fascinate me and probably why I become so obstinate about it, I don’t want to admit that it may be that. It very well may be though…..it too is on the top of my list.
Very interesting article. God is so kind to us giving so many things to wonder and explore.
