Obama and Mexican President Trash Arizona
Mexican President Felipé Calderon paid Obama a visit in the White House today. In a joint appearance before the press, Obama apologized — to the president of the country that is the source of most of America’s illegal aliens – for Arizona’s immigration law by calling it “misguided.” Then Obama grandly proclaimed that “we are not defined by our borders.”
WTF. What does “we are not defined by our borders” mean?
Emboldened by Obama’s apology, Calderon proceeded to abuse whatever privileges he has as a guest and trashed the Arizona law for “forcing our people to face discrimination.” Calderon was actually being measured in his criticism. Earlier, he had used even harsher words, accusing Arizona of opening the door “to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement.”
What a load of hypocritical horse manure. Shall we take a look at how Calderon’s country, Mexico, enforce its immigration policy and treat its illegal immigrants?
To begin with, Mexico has a highly restrictive immigration policy. As described by Michelle Malkin in her article of April 28, 2010, “How Mexico Treats Illegal Aliens
,” those who do not enhance Mexico’s “economic or national interests” or are not “physically or mentally healthy” are not welcome. Neither are those who show “contempt against national sovereignty or security.” They must not be economic burdens on Mexico and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can pay for their own health care.
In an article in WorldNetDaily on April 6, 2006 titled, “How Does Mexico Treat Its Illegals?,”
Larry Elder noted that Mexico’s porous, mountainous, crime-ridden southern border with Guatemala is heavily militarized, patrolled by military and police forces, which means it is extremely difficult for Guatemalans to get into Mexico illegally. Those who do manage to sneak in have no rights and are regularly abused. A United Nations human rights commissioner is on the record for saying that:
“Mexico is one of the countries where illegal immigrants are highly vulnerable to human rights violations and become victims of degrading sexual exploitation and slavery-like practices, and are denied access to education and health care.”
Typically, when Mexican authorities catch illegal aliens, they place them overnight in a detention center, then bus or fly them back to their country of origin. In 2004, Mexico deported 203,128 illegal immigrants, without a trial or hearing or a free public defender. Law enforcement officials at all levels — by national mandate — must cooperate to enforce immigration laws, including illegal alien arrests and deportations. Native-born Mexicans are empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.
And Mexico’s president has the gall to criticize America? — where illegal aliens not only have access to free health care, free education and welfare, when they are caught, they are treated with due process and afforded a free public defender?
Mr. Calderon and Barack “I’m not a natural born citizen” Obama, have you no shame?
